Picking up the tab/check on first date...

when on the first date with a lady, when the check comes and your plan is to pick it up, what do you do if she tries to pay her half?

do you let her pay?
do you insist that you got it?
what if she's insistent that she pay her half?
or what would you say to her?...next time we'll split it? *boggle*

I would try to get her to let me pay it all but if she were persistent I'd let her cough up her half. Not that it matters much, I'm married now so what's the difference? 😉
 
Get a clue. If she wants to pay her half it means that she doesn't want to be indebted to you. It also means that she probably never wants to see your face again. Let it go.

In this case, insist that she pays for it all, for wasting your time. I would try it just to see her reaction. 😀
 
Hmmmm.......wonder what I'll do first time that comes up. Only two relationships so far, one was 1.5 years, current one's for 2 years and 2 months, and I've paid for just about everything. I'd be so f*cking rich if I had always been single. But no complaints here.... 😀

I seriously would feel weird having the girl pay, I even pay for my female friends sometimes. I guess I just like to treat women well. And getting on their good side doesn't hurt either. ^_^

that or.. she didnt want to go out with you.. if she is soooooo inclined to pay.. she only went out as friends and nothing more. if she understood what dating was about.. and wasnt dutch.. then she should let the man pay.. i always pay. i like paying 🙂 i even pay for friends. 🙂🙂
 
HappyPuppy is right. I had a second date w/a nice woman last week and we went for dinner. She insisted on paying and I figured that she wasn't into me when I saw that. I was right. On the first date, I picked up the tab, BTW.

Usually if they like you, they want to be treated to the grub. Otherwise, its see ya later, alligator.

This is bitterness talking... If you invited her out to dinner, you should pay, but I would interpret her trying to pay her half as a gesture of etiquette, not a way out. Girls don't try to pay their half to get out of feeling "indebted." If they don't want another date with you they just won't call you back. Every girl friend of mine who's been on a "bad date" let the guy pay and just never called him back. They figured, hey, free dinner. It's happened to me a couple times. All the girls that I've been with who've *insisted* on helping pick up the tab I've gone on to have multiple dates with.
