Picking The Best Mid-Range Card To Upgrade To

If you want my system specs, the link is in my sig. I'm mostly a HL2 and CS:S gamer, and I am looking for a good upgrade from my BFG 5700 Ultra. I obviously don't want the card to be bottlenecked by the CPU... which is a AXP Barton 2800+ running at 11x210 (a little above 3200+ speeds). Also I'm looking for the card at ~$200.

I've been looking at Source benchmarks, and comparing them with prices and the 6600GT looks like the best option.

If I do go for the 6600GT which one of these is the best?

Thanks!

Try to find a 6800GT . . . it is still considered the best bang-for-buck . . . . might be a little over your price range.

Second choice would be a 6800Standard w/256MB vram or even a 6800-128MB OC. . . . they'd be better choices than the 6600 series and still wouldn't be too bad of a bottleneck for your CPU. 😉

i'd say the 6800nu. it has a slower clockspeed compared to the 6600gt, but more pipes and 256bit memory. they go neck and neck unless you go to higher resolutions and AA/AF where the 6800nu beats the 6600gt hands down. plus when you get bored you can unlock the pipes and overclock it for more performance. its about 30 bucks more than a 6600gt.
