Everyone and their mother seems to either do, or want to do P90X or Insanity. I'm not a huge GSP fan, but he's for sure in damn good shape. So I got suckered into a DVD set that's suppose to have me training like him *lol* Not many people know about this program, but from everything I've read it's very solid. I started on the 1st disc tonight, and JESUS Burpee's suck. I thought squats were bad, but really Burpee's had me wishing I was doing squats. Whoever came up with them's an evil person. I'd say these workouts are pretty much on par with p90x & Insanity. It's an 8 weeks thing and definitely won't be easy. I broke a good sweat and was already thinking "damn" and that was just from the 10 minute warm up :(

Ok I finally did the actual 1st workout, it's broken up into 5 5 minute sets with about a minute rest between each. With an 11 minute warm up and 6 minute cool down. As much as I hated those Burpees, Isometric Squat SUCKS MORE! When I saw the instructor do it I thought "ha way easier then those stupid regular squats we were doing a minute ago"

HOLY HELL I was wrong, you hold the position for a minute without moving. This is by far the hardest thing I've ever done that didn't even require me to move :D 1 minute felt like 10 minutes. I guess it just really shows how out of shape I am. My cardio's decent, but this DVD kicked my a$$, for only being 30 minutes it took everything I had to finish. Being able to do 30 minutes of running on a treadmill had me thinking this wouldn't be that bad, what a reality check I got.

Are they all 30 minutes, or are some of the workouts longer than that?

One of the things I hate about P90x is how long the workouts are. I don't mind the intensity, but doing workouts for an hour (1.5 hours for yoga) usually doesn't work for me, since I don't really have that much time to spare on weeknights. 30 minutes would be great. I'm not really concerned about how long the program lasts (in weeks/months) either, I just want something that fits in my schedule and has results.

That's a good question, I haven't done #2 yet and since I started on the beginner program today is cardio only. I'll be back and home tomorrow and doing DVD #2 so I'll report back. If I had to guess I'd say they're all 30 minutes though, the basis of this program is to simulate training for a 5 5 minute round MMA fight.

Wyndru I did the next workout and skimmed thru the DVD after that, both had the 10 min warmup, 6 cooldown, and 5 5 minute workouts. With the remainder of the disc spent breaking down each exercise in depth and the proper way to do it. I found it quite helpful as I'm not an expert and the pointers definitely helped me with my form and to better understand what each exercise does. And I can say it's a pretty hard workout, I don't know how it compares to p90x or insanity, but I know the morning after I did the 1st workout I could feel how really tight my arms felt all day.

After a few folks mentioning burpees around here, I had to try them. Did the first one's I've ever done in between jumping rope and spinning. I agree that whomever invented them should be shot. I could not believe how hard my heart was beating and how much I began to sweat after only a few sets. (Not to mention how I intended to do 20 and I got to like reps of 12 and was like wtf I physically can't even do anymore). Although I was jumping rope for like 20 min straight at that point. Quebert, were you surprised at how your body breaks down after a few reps? And did you try push up ones right off the bat or just regular burpees (into a sprawl)?

One of the booklets that comes with Rushfit shows what GSP can do in a minute and you're suppose to record your # before you start the program and again after you finish it. So you can see how you compare to his abilities. He can do 22 Burpees in a minute.

my body breaks down quick yeah, I did the 2nd workout yesterday and it was a bit easier on me than the 1st, but my flexibility is absolutely horrible so a lot of the exercises they have you doing, I was only doing partially right. The 2nd disc doesn't have Burpees, but when i did them I wasn't explosive even at the start, I did 3 pretty good, but it was down hill after that. GSP tell's you during the last 15 seconds to pick up the pace like the shit is easy lol. I was doing a pushup to stand up with the them because I thought I'd try to be a bad ass, big mistake haha. After the 8 weeks are over I'll re-do it either on intermediate or advanced.

I got to do Cardio + disc 3 today I'm wondering how my body will hold up

Finished the 1st week, There are still a few disc's I haven't got to yet, but 6 days into it I have a much better grasp of the program.

My flexibility's absolutely horrible so I failed pretty badly at the "Stretch for flexibility" disc. This is not really a physically taxing workout at all, it's more so stretching and nothing super high intensity. But if you're like me and can't even touch your toes you won't do that well here, not the 1st go around any ways. Over the 8 week program you do it 6 times. Hopefully by the end I'll be much more flexible. If not I'll re-do the program on the intermediate level and hope for better results.

It appears my balance is equally poor also, I did really shitty on the "Balance & Agility" workout last night. It has a lot of exercises you do balancing on 1 leg, needless to say I hope what I said in the last paragraph's true here also and by the end of 8 weeks I'll be able to complete this workout properly, or at least much better. My balance has always been horrible, I could barely even skateboard as a teen, so I dunno here lol. This one wore me out.

The Fight Conditioning disc was actually pretty fun, but it had a good number of kicks and some movement based exercises. Which require some flexibility and coordination, which is pretty much on par with what I said in my last paragraph. Though here I think once I've done them 4 or so more times I'll be better at it. A few of the exercises have you doing a 6 or so move combo. It's almost like dancing trying to remember the movements (for me) and my dancing's uhhhh, really bad lol. There's a good amount of sprawling here, so it should wear out just about anyone. GSP was basically out of gas at the end of this one.

One thing I forgot to do was the assessment test before I started. They had me perform 1 after day 6. You do 6 times throughout the 8 weeks I believe. It's 4 exercises for 1 min each with a 20 second rest in between. Great to track progress, but I thing I really disliked here. You're doing them while GSP's also doing them on the screen. It was a bit disheartening to watch the absolute nuts speed at which he powered thru all 4 of them. I know he's a world class athletic, but damn. For some this might motivate them to push harder. For me I just wanted to give up.

For reference

GSP
----
Air Squats - 75
Pushups - 57
Sit Ups - 55
Burpees - 22

me
---
Air Squats - 42
Pushups - 22
Situps - 22
Burpees - 1, yes 1. I gave up lol *sigh*
And my form for all 4 about 30 seconds in started to get bad :(

How old are you Quebert? And is an air squat just like it sounds? Is the point to be explosive and literally do as many as you can with sacrificing form ever so slightly as there is no weight? I'm just trying to think in my head why that would be beneficial I guess. (Not like I should be questioning GSP, lol, just the exercise).

37, the air squat is just a regular weightless squat. They stress form over speed, but tell you to try to get you keep good form and can speed things up. Georges form is spot on and his speed's unreal. He starts quick and towards the last 15 seconds will even up the pace more. I don't really see why they pit you against his numbers here. I don't see it possible a n00b like me could start this program, and in 8 weeks be even anywhere close to matching him. And anyone who's already on a similar level to his probably wouldn't do this program in the 1st place.

I guess in the end 75 squats in a minute's kind of just a bragging rights thing, but I still found it impressive.

11 days into it, I still hate Burpees, and now I hate Mountain Climbers too. Especially when they're @ the end of a workout. I was around 187 when I started and yesterday afternoon I weighed in @ 181.4 so I'm getting results already

Finished week 2, did the assessment test for a 2nd time. This go around:

51 squats
31 push ups
22 sit ups
10 Burpees.

Compared to last week where I did 44, 22, 22, 1

I didn't think my numbers would be that much better than the 1st week ones. So I definitely have to say this program's working. I didn't measure my arms and all that sh*t before I started (they tell you to) I might tonight so I can see is there's a difference between now and week 8. And nope that's not a typo I only did *one* Burpee at the end of week 1 test lol.

Day 25 today, did the Full Body Strength & Conditioning workout for the 2nd time, in the beginner circuit you don't do it until day 20. This is a hard fff'ing workout. Using dumbbells for rounds 2-5. 4 30 second sets with no rest then 30 second break for rounds 2-4.

Round 3 dumbbell pistons, squat to the ground in a push up position and spring up, sumo(sp?) high pull & narrow push ups. Round 4 alternate backwards lunge. Wide presses, internal external curls & cross back lunge with a reach. Round 5 prone rows, power cleans & push presses, 30 seconds x2 no rest then combine all 3 for 2 minutes. The last 2 minutes with going from 1 to 2 to 3 and back to 1 again I don't think I've ever sweated that hard in my life, it was getting into my eyes and burning and running my mouth. Before I started working out, the idea of that would have turned me off from wanting to work out. But it was a very satisfying feeling to be able to push myself to that level and still be able to keep going.

By round 4 I could feel my shoulders burning, and I was sweating pretty good, the wide presses were KILLING ME by the 2nd time around. By the time I was finished with round 5 there was sweat all over my mat. I only used 10lb dumbbells, not in shape to go any heavier yet. GSP was using 15's I think and he had to pause a few times. I was able to finish better than I did 5 days ago, but it took everything I had. If P90's much harder than this, I'm glad I didn't go with it :D I finished about 20 minutes ago and can still feel the Lactic Acid burning in my shoulders and upper arms. It's absolutely brutal how much I can feel from only 25 minutes of exercise.

What else

I don't do this workout again for 9 more days, I think I'll try it with 15lb dumbells. I felt kind of pussy'ish using dinky ass 10lbers on day 20 but I would have tapped out with anything heavier.

The more I do this program the more I like it, just picking up my intensity's each time I do the same workout disc again is keeping it constantly hard to finish. And since the workouts are only 25 minutes, I'm not finding myself getting bored. I tend to get restless pretty easily.

And on the bright side, as hard as this disc is there's no Burpees or Mountain Climbers. :D

Day 26, did the assessment test again - Squats/Push ups/Sit ups/Burpees

69/43/26/16 my numbers last time I did it were 51/31/22/10

I'm happy with my progress except for sit ups, I did 22 of them the 1st time I did the test, which was 20 days ago. So I guess they're my Achilles Heel.

Those are pretty impressive gains IMO. Are you noticing a difference looking and feeling better?

1st question - no, maybe? I don't know! You're suppose to measure all your body parts and take before pics when you start and as you progress so you can better gauge your physical change. I didn't do either, I think I'll do both tomorrow so I can have a record of me about 1/2 way in. When I look in the mirror I think I see a bit of improvement, but maybe that's because I associate working out = better body. So it might be my mind playing tricks on me. As for feeling better, that's a really tough one to answer. When I was at my heaviest and eating fast food multiple times a day I never really felt bad. I don't notice more energy in general from when I started, but I do notice when a week passes and I'm doing the same workout disc over I'm able to push harder and even if I'm as tired as the previous workout when I'm done. I do recover faster. I haven't woken up sore for a month now, which I guess means I do feel better.

I think one of my downfalls is my diet's still pretty spotty, I know it's important to eat healthy, I have been eating considerably better than I was this time last year. But to be honest compared to many on H&F. I'm sure my diet's fairly poor. Perhaps by the 2nd time I do this program I'll have figured out how to eat things that I should be eating that I'm currently unable to stomach :D

Helped someone move so for 4 days I didn't have time to do this, then I was out for a week due sickness. When I got back into it, I sort of half assed it for a week, then I re-did a few of the days. But this week I pushed myself and got back on track. Today was a Fit Test day. Day 30 was the last Fit Test, but the last one I recorded was day 26. I recall that day 30 I pretty much just tied my 26 numbers.

My 26 numbers were 69/43/26/16 - Squats, push ups, sit ups, burpees
Today's day 40 numbers - 77/48/30/17

I upped everything, while they're not huge improvements. With the time off, I'm happy with the results. Even with only small'ish improvements, I noticed especially on the push ups & burpees that I was struggling a lot less and had to take less breathers today. I was going a bit slower maybe, but in the end I still upped my numbers. There's one more official Fit test on day 48, but I'll also do it a last time on day 55 (final day) to see my end results.

This is an awesome program, before I started I could do about 20-25 push ups but I'd really struggle about 15 on-wards. Now I can do about 30 before my arms start to get wobbly and could hit probably hit 55-60 if I really pushed myself. And when I started I could only do about 25 seconds of fast squats before I had to pause and take a breather. Today I managed the whole 60 seconds without stopping, and felt like I could have gone another 20 seconds. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do more than 17 burpees though lol.

QueBert are you J Williams on the Amazon review of Rushfit? lol
