I played the original OF a couple times when I was a kid; my brother loved it and it just seemed really complicated to me at the time. I started playing it again a couple days ago and all I could say was "wow." This game is awesome. I stopped playing Dragon Rising because it was running too slowly for how good it looked (and there were some game-stopping bugs). This just feels like a totally different game.
The maps and missions are well-made, the squad components work well, and the weapons act somewhat realistically (except for the laser-like rocket launchers). The AI isn't half bad, either - they actually try to flank you without any scripting (a la Call of Duty).
I know I'm late to the party, but it's awesome.
