Picked up my new 428i Gran Coupe!

Also, I can't tell if I like the gran or non-gran coupe better. I think the 4 doors actually balances the car out in a way that is aesthetically pleasing to me.

They are exact fits for BMW cars and are completely plug and play. No need for any extra wiring or amps. They have a pretty sick sale right now and will only cost me $450. Supposedly they are better than the Harman Kardon upgrade that BMW offers which was $900. I will probably just leave them in there when I return the lease.

Unfortunately they've told me that they are backordered because of the sale they put on. I won't get it until near the end of the month. They did extend their sale to the 25th. If you're looking to save some money, you can purchase it near the end of the month and return it/cancel it if anything once you hear my opinion on them 😀

The sale is pretty huge, 45% off plus another 10% off.
 
Wow, they finally made a Gran Coupe look good. I traded in my 135i for a 2014 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4 a few months ago. Happy to be back in a truck.

seems like producing a 4 door coupe was the entire purpose of splitting the 3 series into the 3 and 4 series.

or trying to reduce the sales numbers of the 3 series (is a car really luxury when it's outselling the camaro and mustang combined?)

Yeah my friend's wife's last generation 325/8i is really meh. Sitting inside, a Camry or an Accord had more luxury to it. But that's what the majority of people buy. I think that's why they pushed out the 320i to bring back the "status" of the other 3 series models.

Nice car, but calling something with 4 doors a coupe is retarded. Kinda like my 3.0Turbo having a supercharger. 😀

it does have a supercharger. it's just a turbine driven supercharger rather than a belt driven supercharger. the original name in english for that piece of equipment was 'turbosupercharger.' which is a bit unwieldy. the germans don't make a distinction in the name at all, iirc.

LoL also here in CA, rain has been such a rare occurrence lately we know when its coming 😀

No unfortunately. Last I heard they had plans for it but scrapped it. I don't know why though since the M6 comes in coupe and gran coupe.

So I got mine Saturday. Installed the center channel. Tight space but easy enough.

Now the doors. Holy hell the stupid thing is hard to get off. Took me forever to get the wood piece off. Once I got that off I couldn't get the door off. I gave up for the day since it got dark. Im gonna wait for one of my buddies to help me this weekend....

So I finally installed them yesterday.

First off, installation is not as easy as they show on the video.

The wood trim is a bitch to take off. It's super tight and I ended up chipping one of them. When you try to put them back on, I couldn't get that perfect fit again so two of them have a slight gap.

The door panel itself was not too bad. Got the speakers in on all of them without too much pain. However, I fucked up and apparently with my front two doors, the windows are hitting the wires on the speakers since they are significantly longer than the stock wires. I am going to have to pull off the doors again today to pull the wires out front.

Now in terms of sound quality they are much much better than the stock HiFi system. At $400 they are a great upgrade. If I had the chance to do it again I would just go for the HK system. It saves you a headache. I had a friend who works on many BMW cars helping me do it. If it was just myself it would have been worse.
