After using my work shop for my fun projects for too long I decided to get a shop offsite for my cars/bikes/projects. My wife was actually on board with it since it would get stuff out of our garage as well. Its a little rough and needs alot of work but will look cool once finished.

Was driving in Brownsburg today and saw a 300zx z32 with a for sale sign on it. After turning around and calling the number I got some quick info from the guy. After calling my mechanic and quick inspection in 20 minutes I gave him cash for it.

Just saw the car on Craigslist listed for a ton more than I payed for it.

http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/2640515648.html

Car is getting towed right now over to shop. Will take some picts after I clean it up and see the damage better under that horrible Bra....

1991 300zx 5 speed Twin Turbo Red with a TON of options and NO mods whatsoever. Clean title one owner car.

Its got a bad injector accord to the PO. I priced out a full set of injectors for 240 so that should be inexpensive enough. Pulling front and rear bumpers for paint prep immediately and will pull bad injector tonight to see if its all thats wrong for the time being.

Its got a phantom draw that I think I traced to the cheap azz viper security installed by some neanderthal with hands made of stone....as in butched to all hell....

Once I get er cleaned up and painted she may be presentable!

Congrats. Aside from bringing it back to stock running spec, any mods planned?

Keep taking pics along the way tracking progress.

VERY nice find! Hard to get those not riced out or beaten up like the Z31 that was in 'Blind Date' (1987 Movie starring Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger where a Z is tragically destroyed!!).

Thx guys. It just got towed in so I am starting the clean/explore phase. Ill take some picts.
I wanted this car so badly back in the early nineties too hulk. I plan on getting close to stock except exhaust, pop charger, ecu, and tune.

If it turns out nice I may sell it. Do I need 4 cars? Probably not but at least now I have space for it!!

muahahahaha

I remember seeing lots of these for sale about 10 years ago but recently they seem to be much rarer in the midwest. I could find very few TT manual cars in the area for a while.

Anecdotally there was a Craigslist posting here in indy last week for the car that was used in the movie Road trip. The guy had credentials for the car and a copy of the old title that showed the movie studio owning it. Crazy guy wanted 6 k for a 20 year old taurus....

Looking for that scene on youtube arkaign. Its been a while.

There were so many 90s cars that I wanted to own back then. The last gen Supra and the Z32 were damn good cars for their day and age pretty well. The sport touring suspension and 4 wheel steering on this car were high technology for their day. While the Z32 is portly it moves very well for its age. I remember it being on the car and driver 10 best list every year back then.

While I dont love the wing it is stock and has the 3rd brake light in it. Only cars I can really tolerate a wing like that on are the wrx, evo, and the old superbirds. Its grown on me the last hour though.

Just found a smoking implement under the seat that looks like a cigarette but has a hole in it. Um I think its used for nefarious purposes...

I thought the OEM spoiler was a lip type spoiler. The only was to easily differentiate to TT and NA was by the grills under the front fogs?

It looks stock. I thought these were optional back then. Ill call the Nissan dealer on Monday and see if the vin can can pull up its options.

From what I can remember the biggest difference between Na and TT bumbers were the intercooler fins.

Teaser pic.

Wow your pics look much better than his. Nice car, good luck on the project!

I would have never been able to afford a place like this if we lived in NYC still. Nice thing about Indiana is everything is INEXPENSIVE

Presentation is so important when your trying to sell something. Old timers like this guy barely understand the concept of the tivo. When discussing said tivo they reference words like "download" when describing time shifting..

so if it turns out a beater you need to keep it?

I am thinking it wasn't a coincidence you were driving by it.

That tail is a 'mod', probably the worst type....most that just go for looks beat the f out of their rides.

I dealt with Kuah at SPLParts and he had a Z32 at some point...if you are serious contact him for upgrades.

do you mean these guys?
Would love to pick the brain of someone whos lived them.
I used AMS for parts in chicago for Nissans in the past and they never lead me astray.

Your M3 has a better chance of being a beater since I know exactly what I am getting into. In 30 plus years owning cars I have never been surprised. If things are broken or worn then replace. Only thing I cant deal with is rust.....

In a used car I would actually prefer stupid visual mods like a wing and stickers over cheapo chinese go fast parts. If I had seen additional gauges, boost controller, and cheapo suspension I would have run away from it at this price. While I dont like the wing at all the fact that its drilled makes its removal an additional cost I wont worry about till its near the mod phase.

anytime!

You can use lifts anytime you want as well as mounter, balancer and spring press. I am big believer in keeping at home wrenchers off the floor for safety reasons so if anyone in the area ever needs a lift for a few hours let me know. How much easier is an exhaust when your standing up beneath it...

Now you must demonstrate advanced knowledge and training before I let you use the welders lol

Wanted Rotary lifts but they were so much more.

ummm yeah SPLParts.com...Kuah would have made that link up easy.

I don't have 30 years of car ownership, I am only 40...but I know enough to know the guys that visually mod are the hardest on their cars.

If were talking 22 inch rims on a 68 polara with pimp my ride paint then yes your probably right.

I dont apply any single litmus test when assessing assets. Its always broad based... In this case a wing and a few holes here and there for a bra isnt so bad for 20 year old car.

Ill check out Spl parts

Thanks for the heads up

Just ordered a borla cat back to replace the aftermarket monstrosity thats on the car now. Injector is bad and so is most of the wiring the po did when he first started having issues with the injector.

I remember hearing and seeing some injector issues the 300zx line so I expected it. May change out all of them and redo all the leads with something a little more fun.

T-tops all seal, Last night I did a 4 hour wash with clay bar and starting to prep for wet sanding. Most of the paint actually looks good with the bumpers-which I will paint this week-and the front fenders that I am going to have to spot weld since bondo does not do very well will small holes. Just ends up popping out in a few months or after first pressure wash.

The PO installed aftermarket heat elements in the seats with stupid looking rocker switches. Do I pull and go back to stock or do I relocate switches and keep it?

If anyone has not watched the video I linked in the above post please watch it. Its pretty funny...

I got a call from the PO earlier today asking me what I thought of car. I gave him a hard time about what I found under the seat and turns out the guy has bad cancer...I give him alot of credit for not trolling that out when I was buying the car. I would have not believed him.

He just remembered he has some extra parts for me so I am heading back monday and picking up an extra set of seats he was going to put in and the original exhaust that he thought he got rid of. May buy his snap on roller and a rebuilt dana exhaust he has in a pile.

I am having a mopar specialist fom Chicago named Mike Vollman come look at the cuda. He wants 10K for it. I may offer 8 if Mike gives me the go ahead. I would do a resto mod and auction it off in Ohio at the nationals next year if I dont fall in love with it.

He is also selling off the rest of his car collection. A 1972 frame off superbeetle. a 1970 cuda with a blown 440 that he drag raced for 20 years. A 1969 barn find Camaro.
