Pick me out a new wireless router!

I have a wireless router that loves to die about 2 or 3 times a month. Usually under heavy traffic (streming video for exmaple). The death has nothing to do with wired or wireless. The router just quits. It's a D-link. I forget the model. I've done every biios update trying to fix things (even the update that says "router freeze fix") and nothing helped.. For what it is worth this has always been an issue with this router. I jsut never cared. But now I am a Netflix member and expect to watch streaming video on occasion. And from past experiences, I know that this router will die while streaming for over half the movies I'll be watching (90 minutes of sustained streaming will not happen often without this router dieing that is).

Anyways, I want a new router. Wireless B/G is fine. If I can get n, that is preferred but not required. I need some ports in the back for the ocmputer it sits next to. And I do not want another D-Link. Sorry, they lost my business.

I want something stable that doesn't freeze. I prefer it be soemthing that Best Buy stocks since I want to get it today. Budget is $100. Yes, $100. I want something that is nice and stable.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

EDIT: I read this in another post. Not a review, but I also noticed it is Best Buys top seller. Cisco Linksys - E1000 Wireless-N Router. Is it any good?

It's okay. I've been using the same router for a while. How much is Bestbuy selling this for?

I'm going to pick up this router

I heard good reviews about this.

I have that Cisco router you mention and I have DDWRT on it. I have to reset it about once a month.

I hate Dlink routers and Netgear routers. I stick with Cisco but lately I think they all are doing crappy work 🙁

I would second the Asus router that's been recommended, I think they make a variation that has N support as well for a bit more either on would work. Personally I haven't been able to justify switching from my current Linksys WRT54G v2 router. The thing has been solid as a rock for over 5 years, I think I've only had to reset it two or three times in the time I've had it.

I got the E1000.

Watched two movies streaming on the Wii. This alone would have killed my old router by now (90% chance anyways).

So far, the E1000 is working like a champ. No headaches at all.

What does Wikipedia not have listed? I have 32 MB of ram on board. Not sure what my old one had on board. It was about 3 years old so any guess is good. Probably not more than 16 MB

I have a WRT54GL flashed with tomato thats been solid as a rock for over 3 years. It really sucked bad with the stock firmware needing weekly resets but now has a uptime of over 2 years with no resets. Best $35 i ever spent on networking components.

Agreed the firmware that comes with it is really bad. If you flash them with tomato, DD-WRT, Open-WRT it will work for you.

WRT54GL is awesome, I have a WRT54GS with Tomato firmware and it still still working perfectly after four years (Didn't run Tomato till this year).
