Picasa = 1GB storage, Photobucket = . I don't get it.

So photobucket just went to unlimited storage of photos. But even before that they offered a generous amount of storage, the reason I've been using them. I'd like to go with google as I prefer all of their other cloud services. But they only offer 1GB of storage. I don't get it, how come the king of cloud storage offers 1GB of storage for your photos while others offer so much more?

doesn't photobuckets have ladies underwear commercials? little awkward if you sharing stuff with family..

why?

don't people wear underwear?

:hmm:

and believe me, granny is likely a bit more spunky than you give her credit for....just talk to her for a spell. 😉

prudes. for fuck's sake...

Its weird cuz I have like 8GB for email which I totally dont need. Only need like 500 megs there but the 8GB would be more appreciated on Picasa.

I wouldn't notice. Photobucket allows direct-linking so you can embed images. It's the only thing I use it for.

Dropbox allows it too. I recently found out that a free Photobucket account reencodes your images to reduce file sizes to 1MB. I don't like that, so I'm probably switching to Dropbox.

For many people picasa is effectively unlimited though. Files underneath certain sizes don't count against that 1 GB limit. If you signed up for Google+ videos under 15 minutes and pictures 2048 pixels or less along their longest edge don't count against that 1 GB. The file sizes are smaller though if you haven't signed up for Google+.

Isn't that kind of the point? Google can offer you 8gb for mail storage, because they know most people would barely take up 10-20% of that.

Filling up all 8 gigs with email wouldnt mean much to them, cuz people are going to be constantly hitting it. But filling up all 1GB of pictures AND having the entire interwebs checks your pics all day long would probably kill them.
Makes me wanna pay for an account, but I dont care that much. We still got bbzzdd for all my lol cats.

this. picasa kicks photobucket's ass.

I really do wish they had a affordable unlimited plan for picasa.

I like how much it can tie into other services and like the interface but still have to stick with phanfare as they're the only service that is paid unlimited capacity and stores everything in it's original format for later download.

I hate when people host pictures on PhotoBucket. Microsoft's picture thing is just as bad. Hell Picasa has some suckage to it also. But of the three, PhotoBUEcket sucks the most.
