PIA Mid-tower ATX (No PSU) for $15 at Directron.com

It's a hot deal if you already have a power supply to put into the case. Otherwise, I'd probably pass it by. I bet Directron is counting on people to buy a power supply that costs 2x the price of the case.

By the way, Directron is awesome. Their selection of cases is unbelievable. Prices are very reasonable, as well. I don't order from them very often because they are based in Houston which means I have to pay TX sales tax.

It looks like one of those cases where the PS is mounted vertically and in front of the MOBO.

This can be a real PITA - you may have to remove the PS each time you wanna access the CPU.

There is no provision for a rear exhaust fan with this type of setup.

It's OK for some and not a bad price - I'm just letting folks know ahead of time what they are in for.

Maybe that's why the case brand is PIA 😉

When you guys say the power supply goes over the motherboard.. do you mean that if you cut a window on the side, the motherboard would be completely blocked by the power supply?? Or is the power supply vertically on top of the motherboard?

BTW, anyone know if it's possible to put a normal AT motherboard in this case?

hmm.. same brand as the small black cube case with the silver door... slightly suspect build quality, but it certainly is cheap... i just finished building a system in the cube style case, and now that it's fully assembled, it seems pretty solid...

Personally, I'd stay away from this case.......Looking at the pics on their site, the PSU mounting sideways is a major pain. Depending on how tall your HSF is when mounted on the mobo, you may not be able to clear the PSU! Even if you are able to clear the PSU, your airflow into the HSF will be seriously impeded.
This coming from a guy who just dumped a case like this in the trash........ Exact same type of setup, was really heating up the CPU due to airflow problems. I suppose you could reverse your fans in the PSU (assuming you have a "side opening" fan on your PSU) so that it will blow air from outside onto your HSF. The downside to this proposal though, is that you will be flowing air that has been warmed by the power supply to above ambient room temps. This being the case, it type of setup still makes for a poor cooling case.:frown:

I bought one of these cases a while back for a cheap system. Its one of those that the whole cover slides forward, no screws just 2 tabs. Worked out fine cause got a 250watt ps for $9 and both were local for me, Houston.
