physics question (but not for homework....i'm actually trying to get this done)

i'm working on my paintball gun and i've got a shaft (effectively, a large diameter screw) screwed into a piece of the gun SUPER tight. both pieces are metal, and i'm going to assume that they're the same material.

if i heat up the socket into which the shaft is screwed, will it expand enough for me to unscrew the shaft??

No both pieces will expand

This is actually more chemistry I believe, as for heating up the socket to remove the shaft...I'm not sure how you would be able to "shrink" the socket back to its original diameter. I could be wrong though.
