Self protection

Controlled hunting (ban hunting, and usually things are worse off for the animals)

Collecting for historical value (much like cars)

Guns are for self-prtection as you are likely to hurt/kill innocent people.

Hunting is a barbaric sport that is no longer required.

Collecting guns has to be the most childish hobby in the would. I mean, what would you do with them?

If there were no guns there would be no gun deaths.
Are all women prostitutes? They are equiped to be one... If there were no women, there would be no prostitution.

OK, that's a bit overboard, right?

If you kill everyone with AIDS, it won't exist either. Kill the patient to get rid of the disease. That overboard too?

Guns are only meant to kill. There is no reasonable need for firearms in a modern society. The police get paid for a reason.
Right, you have no concept of an armed society and it's affects on government. Please research the second admendment, it's not for hunting.

How is an oppressed society supposed to combat it's government w/o weapons? Government is inherently dangerous.

The 2nd Amendment is outdated. Where do you draw the line? Nuclear weapons, biotoxins, chemical shells?

You really think the government is going to try anything? We have moved on to more civil times.
The line was drawn a LONG TIME AGO. Back then they had: muskets, canons, explosives. However, they only protected firearms which basically rifles and pistols. Military grade weapons existed, and they (writers of the constitution) didn't feel it was necessary to include military level weapons.

Why? Because when nearly everyone owns simple firearms, no army could take them. No matter what military weapons are used. Can you imagine trying to invade the southern USA? NOT GONNA HAPPEN, shy of nukes. The US military is NO MATCH for it's armed populce, no gov't military can take out their own people, unless you disarm them first.

WAH, they can still nuke us!!! OK, do you really think the government will nuke it's entire country? Who/what would be left to govern? No, they wouldn't. They would still have to go "door to door."

If anyone brings up the point about the Constitution only mentioning rifles, please refer them to the fact that pretty much all small arms were called rifles back then. On account of the rifling of the barrel as opposed to smooth bore.

*goes back to studying*
