phpBB or invision board? *poll*

curious what you prefer between the two.

phpbb added a logo and did some custom colors otherwise stock
invisionboard

Too close to call. Those are definitely the two to consider, none of the other free PHP boards is in the ballpark.

You have a lot more freedom with PHPbb.

If you're willing to pay, go for phpbb.

😕 You don't have to pay for anything for phpBB.

If you want control and versatility, use phpBB. If you want something that looks slightly better with a base install, go for Invision.

Invision for me here. I couldnt stand Phpbb and their "support". To many chiefs in that group.

phpBB seems to have LESS control over things than Invision, but I'm no expert. all i know is i installed phpBB, took one look and what passes for "admin" functionality in that forum, and went right back to Invision.

Curious what some of the big differences are, I played with the invision board demo and I have a demo phpbb I was playing with, and on the surface it doesn't seem to be a big differance(I didn't look very carefully though)

I've used both and phpBB's performace took a HUGE drop once our board hit 100,000 posts. We switched to Invision after that and we are nearing half a million posts without any hiccups since. Invision all the way!

phpBB is nice because its a great board for the price (FREE) 🙂

but I perfer Invision. I think it offers better control of the forums.

Invision is also free however they made it more difficult to find on their web site.

It's now known as the TRIAL version but works just fine.
