PHP or javascript text editor that can save?

I was wondering if it's possible to have a php or javascript ap that would load an existing .html file, let the user edit the file, then save the file by overwriting the original. I have a good working knowledge of html and css, but as far as any more dynamic content goes, I'm clueless. I've tried searching on google, but most of the pre-made text editor scripts are missing one of the two things I need it to do. Some can open a .html file, and others can save to a .html file, but it seems none can do both.

Thanks. I ended up reading up on php a little and writing my own. I only needed a very simple minimalistic script.
