PHP file broswer for my web site?

QueBert

Lifer
There is a built in script in DirectAdmin that allows me to do the basic file maintenance, it has an archiver but it only supports gzip & tar. I would like to be able to work with RAR files directly, it's taking me forever and a day to upload the files de-compressed via ftp. I know I could convert them to gzip but I'm lazy lol. My hosting does not offer shell access so that's out of the question. What would be my best bet here? I really would like to find an all around better web based file browser client, the included one is kinda iffy. Installatron doesn't seem to have any (unless I'm blind)

thanks

You might be better served if this were posted in programming.

Can you use other programming languages besides PHP? Like perl or python? You might have better luck searching over a larger span of languages than keeping it set on PHP.

I will try the programming forum I was a tad unsure where to post it. The server has perl installed and I believe I can use python. Although I didn't think about how without shell access not sure how I'm going to compile anything unless it has a web based installer. I know most of the popular packages like Gallery & PHPBulletin have web installers but what I'm looking for, not so sure.
