if i try to copy another picture though, and paste it, it'll paste the original picture. only if i close photoshop and reopen it will the new image be pasted. how do i get around this?

I had the same problem with Corel (I don't use Photoshop); I fixed it but I can't remember now what I did. Try searching on Google for some help, I remember that's what I did and found the answer. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Edit: I think I remember it had something to do with memory preferences. Try setting preferences back to default and then making changes one at a time for new settings. But I'm not positive that this is what I did.

Copy the first image

Go to photoshop, click File, New, and accept whatever dimensions it gives you

Paste the first image

Copy the second image

Go to photoshop, click File, New, and accept whatever dimensions it gives you

Paste the second image into the new window (right click in the new window and choose paste)

Then if you want to move them to a common canvass, you'll have to select/copy/paste them from within photoshop.

Yes, that is still a very annoying bug/feature that I was hoping would be ironed out of PS7.

Just make a new canvas... or do a print screen of the image you're working with so you can directly put in into the same canvas you're working on...

hmm, that only seems to work if the images are of different proportions. actually i don't even have to do anything if that's the case.

if the images are of the same proportions, then the only solution that i can find is to close and reopen PS..
