Photoshop help needed

I need to fix this photo tonight to turn in for a program tomorrow and I've tried everything I know with my limited skills in Photoshop 5.0.

When you view the photo you'll see that around the faces of the boys in the back row where there should be shadows, instead there is red and I can't get rid of it or even lighten it any way that I've tried.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'd really appreciate any help with this.

The red appears to be shadows from their heads. I believe it looks orange because the white balance is off. If you used a flash under sodium vapor or flourescent lights, then you have two pretty different temperatures of light. When you adjust the picture to not look too blue from the flash light, then the areas of the photo that were exposed for the ambient light will look too warm. Play with the WB for a while and see if you can find a happy medium; a blue cast might look better than the red spots.
