The problem I have with BP and this Photoshopping shenanigans is that it is yet another cluster fuck in a long line of PR bombs.

To me I get the perception that management is damn well nearly criminally incompetent in handling all sorts of issues. It isn't this "trivial bullshit" in of itself that is significant, but rather it is supportive evidence of a series of piss-poor management decisions.

I just think it's ridiculous that this has gotten more coverage and is being talked about by more people than what I mentioned, which seems like a far worse thing to me. There's no question it's yet another fuckup by BP, just seems like less of a big deal in the grand scheme of what they've done recently.

Which one are you talking about then?

You said the first one from the OP.

Originally, you said it didn't look bad and was just a mask.

This was questioned by darkxshade, since clearly the screen in the OP's first link were altered.

I assumed your comments about masking were from looked at this one, which I think is a reasonable assessment of what's going on.

So which is it?

My comments were about this image, which is the first image I saw when I came into this thread:

Later, I saw the other image with the faked screens. I think I confused myself - I think I clicked on the OP link, then immediately on the "UPDATE 12:08PM Eastern 7/20/10: BP has faked yet another oil crisis response photo on its Web site." ....and just didn't realize I'd clicked through. Or something.

There seem to be more people talking about this trivial bullshit than the atrocity BP committed in regards to helping free the person convicted for pan am flight 103 in exchange for drilling rights.

yeah, I heard about this last week.

freaking horrible.

I would tend to agree that the other fiasco is indeed genuinely worse; this is relatively minor. However I think this type of news is far easier for people to consume via media. That Pan-Am situation is a bit more ethereal and harder to really "see" laugh at, and pass around the web.

This case is funny and demonstrates incompetence, but nothing criminal.

The Pan-Am fiasco should result in somebody being impaled Vlad style and have their scrotum used as a tether-ball.

I'm satisfied :awe:
