[Photos] Just got back from two-week Europe tour: 200+ images uploaded!

I returned from a two-week tour of Europe a week ago and have since uploaded over 200 of 2280 pictures to my website for viewing. All were taken with a Canon PowerShot A40 2MP digital camera, most in Auto mode. Some edited with the Sepia elements and an 80% sharpening control under ACDSee. Let me know what you think!

Check 'em out

Thanks! U.K. (London, Canterbury, Dover), France (Calais, Paris), Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt), Slovakia (just passing through!), Czech Republic (Prague), Hungary (Budapest), Austria (Vienna/Wien).

Cool! I liked Austria (it really is so clean you could nearly eat off the streets) and the U.K. the best. I think I'd like Germany a whole lot better, but Berlin just kinda sucks; it's old, run down, unfriendly, and there's a lot of anti-American sentiment... tons of graffiti everywhere too. Go to Frankfurt, Ingolstadt, southern cities like that where they are more pro-democracy/capitalism where it's much nicer and cleaner. Paris is worth a stop for one full weekend (kinda dirty, but the Seine River tour, The Louvre, and the Eifel Tower of course are worth seeing), and a couple weekends touring Austria and Switzerland. Prague and Budapest are ok, but probably just for a weekend each, if that. And the good people of Great Britain are the friendliest people outside of Texas! 😀

That is awesome.
I am thinking about doing that this summer.
Where did you lodge while there?

In various local hotels- not a hostel, and not a Marriott either, just nice locally-owned-and-operated places.

Some one's an alcoholic........😉

Looks like fun.🙂

EDIT: Thats a Lot of pictures.....what does your camera store them on?

Lol, the Smart Cars (Mercedes/Swatch) were pretty interesting- that wasn't the coolest one I saw. It was a blast, and my camera used a Viking Components 128MB CompactFlash memory card, with the photos being dumped onto a Dell notebook back at the hotel everynight (sometimes a few times a day!).

Hey NightFlyerGTI ...

I might be going to Europe in January, and I've got tons of questions (take a look at the thread).

How much did you pay at these small hotels? How about quality? Ive heard that in Italy and Spain, it's better to stay at a small three stars hotel than at a hostel (and almost at the same price).

Kuk 🙂
EDIT: Oh, and for the car folks, I might be getting this car! 🙂 Try to guess its name ...

Well, I went with a tour group, so I'm really not sure how much the hotels cost. I want to say about $70 per night on average, at a 3-4 star hotel. I went with an educational group of 35 from my University and we got a killer deal: $2600 or so for two weeks of room, board, and touring. Including airfare both ways and a motorcoach wherever we went! The quality of the hotels we stayed at were pretty good- nice, but older furnishings, beds, et al. Expect a good night's rest and a nice window overlooking a busy little street, but not much more than Hampton Inn quality. I'll check out your link...

EDIT: Read your thread- I say at 18 it's going to get expensive. Remember a rental car, if they'll even let you rent one, and various things like that. I would say to keep saving your money and go in a couple more years, because it WILL cost you about 5 grand, unless you go with an educational tour group from your school like I did, for half the cost. Not to rain on your parade, but going to Europe on your own at 18 would be tough and expensive.
