I have a Canon AE-1 that my parents bought me when i photography was a hobby of mine back in Jr High school. They also bought a side mount honeywell flash.

well the flash finally died and instead of spending $$$ for the batteries i would like to get just a good hot shoe flash.

i am having a bitch of a time finding one that will fit my camera. I know there are a few photo geeks in here and if you know of any camara forums where i can look or other websites that you can point me to i would really appreciate it.

One suggestion would be the Sunpak 433D or the Vivitar 285. The main features to look for IMHO are:
1. Compatibility with your camera (obviously)
2. Bounce
3. Guide number 100 or above
3. Zoom
4. Swivel

I don't know why you'd have a hard time finding a flash to fit your camera. I don't think there's anything special about the AE-1 hot shoe. Try Ritz Camera - one of their private label units would probably work and be cheaper than the name brand.
