Photography contest!

Hey Guys. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in a photography contest.

Whoever is interested would submit pictures that they have taken in the past year (2008 only) and people could judge and rate the pictures. They would be different categories. (Scenic, People, whatever else categories we can think of)

Does this interest anyone?

That sounds like an excellent idea. I'll point out though that vast majority of people who regularly post in digital and video cameras also frequently post in OT; so I think we'd keep the contest itself in the correct forum. However, we may be able to make a sticky in this forum announcing the contest (we've had theads a few times announcing the contest, but they fall somewhat rapidly.)

I suggest the following categories for starters:
people
animals
nature/landscape
architecture/cityscape
events (weddings, 4th of July, etc.)
sports
... I'm sure there are plenty more
 
I think he's suggesting that there be an OT thread that links to the D&VC photo contest thread, or that at least points people to the D&VC section to look at the contest.

Though I like the idea of having a "2008 Overall" contest in D&VC as well.

I'm not interested in 2007. I'm interested in 2008.

What I'm thinking of doing is actually coding up a web app for picture competitions.

Make it have a competitive feel.
