Photographers out there?

Been looking on CL, and I'm interested in a Rebel 2000 or a Rebel GII. Any other recommendations? My bro needs this for photography school so we don't need a top-of-the-line camera. Any kind/brand/model of camera I should specifically try to find?

It's probably a non-issue. They won't be using autofocus though.

I'd pick up a Canon Elan 7E on ebay. You can find them for about $120 and they are much better than the Rebel series SLR cameras. Pair it up with a decent 50mm lens (like Canon's 50mm f/1.8) and he should be set.

He'd have a very nice film SLR with a fast, general purpose, auto focus lens for around $200.

A second hand Rebel would work fine, so as other mechanical manual cameras. However, I would go for a 630, 10s, Elan, A2, or 1/1n because they have more robust lens mount.

My favorite oldies are OM-x bodies & Zuiko lenses, and Canon FD T90, AV1, AE1, A1 & F1.
