Is there any software out there that will allow you to have 2 batch resize settings, like one for landscape and one for portrait?

Like it will recognize whether the photo is landscape of portrait and adjust it based on what your defined settings are?

Something that also allows file renaming during the batch resize would be great too.

You can script this with photoshop.

Actually, the Image Processor script in photoshop cs2 might fit the bill for what you want. It has a resize to fit setting that resizes the image proportionally to fit a given pixel size.

I believe both your requests can be filled with ACDSee.
I have 8 but I think version 9 is out right now.

I don't know if you are looking for free version or paid version but this Graphic Workshop Professional 2.0 does the job you are looking for but it is not free though
