Does the GS3 have amazing Exchange support or something? I'd say the iPhone has better Exchange support IMO compared to Android. I like the UI more at least. However I do like using Touchdown on Android (costs $$$$$) because it has oodles of features. Unfortunately, the UI looks like ass and is more suited for Android 2.x. They need to give it a facelift already.

Don't know why people flocked to the GS3 so soon given the N4's power.

Well he said he doesn't like iOS and he really likes his SGS2, so the SGS3 was just a natural recommendation. The Lumia has pretty good exchange support, probably the best of all 3 OS'

iOS was quite a bit better than android in the past, but from what I hear the SGS3 has improved on that.

The hoops I had to jump through on my Gnex were too much.

I guess. Liking an SGS2 doesn't mean SGS3 is your next phone. I would recommend the SGS3 if you definitely want TouchWiz. But if not, I'd say Nexus 4. Given how much this board loves the Nexus 4, how can they so easily recommend the SGS3?

I'm going from a SGS2 to Nexus 4, but then again I run CyanogenMod, so I like AOSP. I think unless SDcard and LTE are must-haves, I would still stick with the Nexus. With that said my buddy and I are getting quite excited about the Optimus G on AT&T getting AOSP. I might sell my Nexus 4 if that's the case. I'll let Google take its sweet time shipping my N4 while devs work on the Optimus G.

I'm about to run screaming from AOSP - bluetooth is unreliable, you can't change volume while in a phone call...hot boots at times. Maybe it's just the SG3, but I'm wholly unimpressed.

Its for both work and private use.

And yes, Microsoft Office is a big selling point for the Lumia.

People keep saying this but I cant really see a situation where MS Office would give a great advantage on a phone, a tablet maybe, but a phone?

I thought you were sticking with an iPhone 5?

Isn't the Optimus G locked down?
Has it been rooted?

also regarding this I'm obviously being hopeful, but there seems to be some devs on XDA who think its somewhat doable.

i'm not someone who would jump on the phone now particularly if I need to pay full price, but it's something to keep my ears open to particularly if my N4 needs 4 weeks to ship. Heck someone here bought a full priced Nexus 4 at T-Mobile.

its a work phone. my personal phone is an android. im just saying i dont get the sudden SGS3 love here when the past month this whole board has been creaming their pants about the Nexus 4.

To me it's a no brainer. Nexus 4 > SGS3.

The Galaxy S III has top notch hardware. The only reason the Nexus is even in the running is because of the software. I don't think anyone on this board likes skins. Some of us are willing to put up with skins or root a phone and install CM10 to make a phone usable, but as geeky as I am, I don't want to fiddle with my phone in that way (and I'm sure a lot of people are the same).

Sorry I always think i9300 international SGS3, and that's a quad A9. The Quad Krait seems miles better. I guess a dual core krait is good, but I would rather get a Nexus if I cared about AOSP.

I'm not as well versed on how well ROM support is on the US SGS3s, but on the I9300s, its terrible. That's why there's all sorts of hate towards Exynos all over XDA. Development is a nightmare.

Or even beyond that:

How "real" is the ARM Office? OSX Office has many compatibility problems with Windows Office. I bet the ARM version isn't perfect either.

If you don't get perfect compatibility anyways, then many of the Android office apps work just fine.

Oh, I am in Denmark, so I won't get a US model.

My SG2 uses MyUI, I have not used TouchWiz.

Camera is important, as is LTE. I often use more than 15 GB a month, so LTE will make a difference. It seems like Nexus does not have LTE. What a shame (not to mention a strange omission).

I seems like it is between SG3 and Lumia 920.

Not sure why anyone would pick the SGS3 over Nexus 4.
Makes little sense.

SGS3 is tried and tested the N4 still has some issues looming over it that may or may not be resolved.

Plus expandable storage, removable battery, not made of glass, LTE.

On the software side not everyone is obsessed with stock android.

I like skins...

Storage + battery. Plus the US S3 models have really good AOSP ROM support anyway.

This. I don't understand why anyone would choose a phone that you can't add storage to. You bitch about stupid stuff like skins and bloatware where you should be bitching about lack of any storage options. Sometimes i question the intelligence of you guys.

Different things matter to different people....

I agree with you.

I'd be OK if it came with a razr maxx battery and 64gb of storage if the battery was fixed and there was no expandable storage, but as it is its a definite negative.

Any Lumia users out there who can tell me how well it integrates with my contacts in Google Mail? That is the one critical application for me.

Yes, it syncs contacts from Gmail just fine.

I question the intelligence of those who can't comprehend having different needs for their devices. Does it just not occur to you that some people don't need that much space, and therefore don't care if it's expandable?

LTE?

The only issue I had is that on my Google Calendars I had more than one calendar. One for my work schedule and one for my wife's. By default the Gmail client on WP8 only syncs the first calendar. There is no way to get the other ones.

I guess this was a problem in WP7 as well and found some walkthroughs on how to login to the google moble sync site and enable synching of the additional calendar.
