When calling someone how many times do you usually let the phone ring before hanging up and deciding they aren't there? Say it's someone's home phone and they aren't expecting a call as far as you know. What about a cell phone how many then?

As many times as it takes before I get their answering machine or voice mail.

I usually choose to too but believe it or not not everyone has either. I hat it when it rings like 7-8 times and you realize there is no answering service.

I do not fraternize with people who do not have voicemail, answering machines or an answering service.

Same thing with people who either do not have e-mail or do not check their e-mail.

No kidding. Does this guy live in 1939 or something?

back before answering machines and voice mail ( i was a kid, but remember still) my mom would yell at me for letting it ring forever, and told me to hang up after 7 rings. more than that was annoying, less doesnt give them a chance to get across the house to answer the phones. this was before cordless phones also.

in the age of vmail and such, i usually let it ring until vmail picks up or 5 rings, im much more impatient now. unless its my daughter, then ill let it ring until vmail picks up. if it doesnt pick up in 7 ill end and redail.
