I'm using a Samsung phone that came w/ plan for free (it's a basic phone, cameraless).
I'd like to know if I can just buy any old unlocked phone and pop in my current SIM card, or does it have to be a T-Mobile phone?
If so, I'd like two phone recommendation.

I want to be able to access my email (gmail and hotmail), take pics, and it must be sturdy/of good quality. Must be under $60.

Dad needs something that takes pictures/videos, and---that's it. Under $60 again.
