Probably a dumb question but.....
If I'd but the Samsung ATIV S from Canada or somewhere else in the world would it work in the US?

Unlocked?
GSM?

If yes to both then it should work with AT&T and T-Mobile.

Pretty much any GSM phone will work anywhere else in the world since 2G bands are relatively standardized. 3G bands also will probably work worldwide, though in some places, you may need to use a specific carrier.

Any Canadian phone will probably work on AT&T in the United States, though I'm not sure if you meant through roaming or using an AT&T SIM.

Wait what?

All Canadian providers use LTE on the AWS spectrum, 1700mhz/2100mhz. AT&T uses that for LTE?

'Cause if that's the case, then the Nexus 4 will run on LTE in the US on AT&T bands... and from what I know, it only does that in very, very select cities (like numbered on one hand kind of select)

No. They use 700, though a different band there than Verizon.

AT&T has some AWS, and have talked about deploying on it, but with the T-Mo deal falling through it looks like they're only going to do that in a very small # of cities where they need the bandwidth.

I believe he was mistaken. Bell/Rogers use the same 3G bands as ATT, but different LTE. Only some areas are 1700/2100 on ATT as mentioned above.
