phone interview in 1 hour...

hey everyone, I have a phone interview in 1 hour for a "Technical Services Analyst / Problem Solver" position and it's my first real interview like this. For the past couple hours I've been reading other peoples' interview experiences with this company and most said something like this:

"the phone interview is pretty basic. they ask questions like "why are you interested in Epic [the company]?", "where do you see yourself in 5 years?", "what are 5 things that you are NOT?""

how are you supposed to answer these?

I'm interested because I want a job, lol, but I'm sure that's not what they want to hear. I heard this job does not have much advancement potential, so what about the 5 year question?

what are a couple questions I can ask the interviewer? I was thinking about asking about what a typical day is like? anything else?

I've done many phone screens myself, though I tend to ask more technical questions to see if it's worth our time to actually bring the person in for an interview. I expect the person to have questions about the work they'll be doing and maybe some other minor details about the company; no questions at all means I either covered everything (unlikely, kind of sick of doing phone interviews), or they don't care.

On the other end, when I've been interviewing and had to do a phone interview, I would answer the 5 year question with something like 'I want to stay technical and hands-on, but I'd love to be the person who other people come to for help on solving a problem.' You definitely want to show some interest in leadership, mainly to show drive and interest, not necessarily because you actually know what you want to do in 5 years.

I've interviewed for Epic. The phone screening was super easy, it is the on-site you'll have to prep (a little) for.

The phone interview the guy just basically talked about the company, I don't even remember any technical questions. Then they sent me tests to take at a local library. Wiped those out, then I went on site. That was a long process - "interviewed" with like 5 different people (2 of which you actually do any real talking) and took more tests.

They offered me a good salary but I couldn't take it. They then called me 2 years later, brought me on site again (exact same process as I remembered - only i didn't have to take tests again) and increased their offer, but I still didn't take it.

They pay well, but they expect a lot of devotion. I have a friend that still works there (he's right about 6 figures now and he's 28) and he has no complaints. But I know friends of his have quit due to pressure.

I will say their campus is one of the coolest places I've ever been to. It was hard to turn them down due to that alone. Coupled with a high offer, it was the hardest position to turn down for me so far. Had it not been in WI, I'd be all over it.

I typically like to ask what changes/improvements would you like to see in your work environment, just get a feel for the types of problems they're facing.

I've worked at Cerner, knew people who were in similar Analyst position and heard similar stories about the pressure. Guess that's par for medical software industry. Good luck and hope it goes well!

Just got off the phone, took 26 minutes. He asked the question I really didn't want right away.. "where do you see yourself in 5 years"... kinda mixed your answer, Tencntraze, with a part of the job description. Came out weird. whatever, though

then he kind of explained the company and what the job position would do.

I had 3-4 questions lined up to ask him but he actually answered all of them when he was rambling, so when he asked me if I had any questions, I made up a stupid one.

I think it went alright. joked with him a few times. said I would hear in 2 weeks. he didn't go over my resume which everyone online said they would do...

he had a very foreign name, but was completely normal. just tried to look him up and couldn't find him. maybe I spelled it wrong or maybe he just doesn't have anything online

They've called/emailed me a few times, I've heard of them since they are relatively close to here and I actually have a friend who works for them, I think they're okay.

got a follow-up email today asking my full name and address so the HR lady could find a testing center near me. I will need to go there and complete a two part test of a "math general skills component and a logic-based, problem-solving component"

so I guess I didn't bomb it

also, I got 2 other requests for phone interviews from different companies/positions today, so I'm pretty excited by that

i also have a test scheduled for tomorrow and they are a logic-based, problem-solving component and a component containing a series of programming questions. i m pretty much confused about what type of test it would be but i m very much keen into taking up the job. can you please help me in the further process of the interview? thank you very much!

i have just started my process of application to epic.. and i have already told them that i am a fresher. so they wanted me to take up an exam at the closest pearson vue test center. i have it scheduled for tomorrow and i am starting to get nervous about it. have you gone through that test before? or do you know any thing about logic-based, problem-solving component and a component containing a series of programming questions? these are the sections which i will be questioned. i am a masters graduate but i do not have enough exposure to the real time environment. can you please help me in clearing up some confusions? i need help with what is the complexity involved in the test? and what are the languages/technologies that they take into consideration in the programming section of the exam? thank you for taking time to read through the message, and i d really appreciate some suggestions to what i need to concentrate over.
