Phone Data - How much do you use and what type of user are you? Facebook/Twitter/Streaming Audio/Video, etc

thanks in advance,

why the differences? again, just wondering how much would be considered 'average' for no social networking or streaming.

have you ever tried to use data on a blackberry???? thats all ill say, the last time i told the truth about bb they banned me for three months.

i dont do any social networking and if i did no video at all i would probably use less that 300mb even on my droid. id like a 4g phone, which would be especially good for video but if you use it for that purpose you could easily go over 2 gbs. so it like you cant use a 4g phone for the main reason you would want one

500mb-1gb depending on whats going on. I use mine primarily for information purposes, news, stocks, maps, etc. Some music streaming as well, but not as much as my headphone jack is fracked.

i am going from very old 'smart' phones, so haven't used data on the phones - don't know how the browsing would be on a 480x320px screen? really don't need the data plan but you have to get it and the stuff that runs on the phone like some of the news/weather/time updates would be more than likely the bulk of my data usage unless messaging is counted against data?

I use roughly 40mb a month on an unlimited 3G plan. I'm sitting with an old BB Curve so thats my main limiting factor(no java, no flash, small screen, horrible web navigation). I basically check Engadget and Autoblog a couple of times a day at work, thats all it can manage and barely at that. If I had a wifi capable touch phone I would use the phone more but then again that wouldn't eat into a data plan. I'm in a 4G LTE area, though, which would be handy when I'm out on the town or hangin with friends. My friend uses roughly 500-600mb /mo on his Droid X viewing the web, streaming youtube and pandora, and using Gchat.

Last month I used...2.49MB.

That's cause each MB costs 20c. So I just live without when I can, and only turn on 3G when I have to.

Mostly youtube, web sites, email, and maps.

About 200-500 MB/month. Most I ever did was 2-3GB when I tethered. Last month did about 1.2GB. I get unlimited data from sprint.

Oh crap, I just looked it up...

81.760 GB LULZ

How long before Verizon shuts me down?

How can you explain that usage without saying you are tethering?

Free tethering for 10 more days 🙂

I think this thread is a perfect example of why the carriers are getting away from unlimited. I use my phone a lot and average right around 600mb. The vast majority use less than 1gb but those that do use more tend to use a lot more.

No carriers ever had unlimited, all were 5GB except for Sprint. Of course there's always going to be those people that abuse and go crazy but lowering everybody's caps to ridiculously low levels because of the 1% is dumb. Lowering the caps even more is hurting the growth in the mobile sector we've had.

I use about 1.5GB per month from what I've seen. I mostly stream music and watch a lot of Youtube & HBO Go so that's where the heavy data usage comes from. I guess it's nice to know I have another 3.5GB left in my "unlimited" cap.

I use website and social networking alot on my iphone I get about 1.3GB mostly on wifi but I would say about 300 to 400MB over the 3G network

You don't see anything wrong with that statement?

I have used 20GB's so far this month(half way through my billing cycle) with no tethering.

how do people do something like this? even if youre streaming video, who sits in front of their phone all month watching stuff????

I've never used this much before, and I tethered with Sprint for months, never got above 3GB... Am thinking something's off with the bill.

I buy:
Galaxy S2 1.25 gb pm 3g
Galaxy Tab 1.25 gb pm 3g
Curve 8520 2gb 2g
Laptop downloading rig unlimited 3g

I use:
Both galaxys, few hundred mb each
Curve 2g very rarely
Laptop almost 24 x 7 downloading

Costs
1.25gb inr 675 pm each
2Gb 2g inr 95 pm
3G unlimited 4500 per 6 months for a total of 200gb or inr 1650 pm

Usd equals 45 inr

So total like 70 usd apart from home broadband and talk time, each month
