the broth for pho, if done correctly, may take up to half a day to prepare. there is no such thing as "instant" pho.

I asked the owner of a local vietnamese restaurant how long it takes them to make Pho once and he said he and some of the cooks get there at 6:00 in the morning to make enough soup for the lunch time crowd. Thats way too much time for me to be spending in front of the stove if I wanted to make it myself. :)

I don't think instant Pho is all that great. It's the same level of quality to real Pho as Instant Ramen is to real ramen or soba.

Anyways, Pho is awsome. A large bowl here goes for $4.00 with extra noodles. For $5.00 I can get a small bowl of Pho with Lemongrass Chicken over rice. Yummy!!!!

Its not really worth the trouble to make the broth unless ur gonna make alot of it. My mom leaves the pot there simmering with all these bones and stuff for like a couple of hours. Way too much time for me to do myself.

Pho kicks so much @ss! Here in the LA area there are a crapload of Vietnamese places to obtain this yumminess. They have it with beef, but also with chicken and even Vegetarian. (Which is actually just w/o chx or beef.:) You can get it to go, which is very fun cuz you can eat it while watching a movie, or whatever.

They usually serve it with lime, bean sprouts, and a hunk of fresh basil. YUM! Oooh, and don't forget the crazy hot Srirachri (sp) sauce. YEEHAAW!:D

I'm gonna have to see if there's some cheap Pho places around here. I had some Japanese Ramen a while ago that kicked serious ass..mm..$1.29 and it was a full friggin meal. Craploads of ginger, though...I'm still breathing well through the nose. :)

Pho is a simple noodle soup that the commoner eat in Vietnam, and fortunately dog is not one of the ingredient.

You can get the Ramen noodles in almost any Asian grocery store. The trick to Pho is the broth that take 4 hours to make, so it is not worth your time to make it at home, because it would be cheaper & quicker to go to a noodle house for a bowl of the yummy noodle soup.
