In checking my email today I noticed I had 2 phishing emails. One for Paypal and another for Bank of America whom I don't have an account with. So.. me =:disgust:  + delete
I wondered why scammers still kept sending out those things. Afterall the internet community has been on to them for years now. But then I realized they are probably still sending them because they probably still work! Somewhere someones grandma who just got her internet is typing in her credit card number to "verify her information" so her account won't get locked.
How long til everyone gets a clue???

I agree...there are still people out there who fall victim to these scams. THAT is why they continue. *sigh*

I got a clue...when I realized how dumb I was that I was fooled. luckily nothing bad happened to my accounts.

but as embarrassing as it was/is...at least I know better now.

the current email protocols would have to be replaced by something with security and authentication

so it will never happen

Consider that most of the people who use computers don't really know how to use a computer. If you asked them what the registry was or what cookies were, they'd probably faint and feel stupid. I know a lot of people who don't even know that a link's adress is displayed at the bottom of the browser window when moused over. No, it will never happend. If there was even a remote possibility of it happening, we wouldn't still have SPAM rioght now.
