Even without 720p, is this a good buy in your guys opinion? I'm on the fence of waiting a few months to buy a LCD HDTV or just go with this right now.

Wait, you will be happy you did

The thing about HDTV is that the changing standards makes it always a good idea to rent or wait. However, you don't get to watch HDTV in the meantime. If you don't have HDTV and would like a good intro TV set, this seems like a good deal to me. It even includes HDMI which is usually the main reason to wait.

The only hesitation I can think of with this set is that it's a refurb.

I picked one up.. for those of you who use Comcast, did you need to purchase a DVI to HDMI cable? And where did you end up picking one up?

Yeah HDMI input is very important. What with toshiba saying that any players for HD DVD (or was it blu ray? I forget which one toshiba is involved in) will only output hi def video from a player to a HDMI. Otherwise it will downconvert to 480p on any analog inputs.

You mean HDCP?

LOL unless your wife was fresh as the day she was new then the most of us married a refurb. My wife before I married her went back to her mother and was inspected and any part broken or missing parts was replaced. Then they cleaned her up good and I married her. I saved $300 from marring the new girl next door I heard she broke 3 times and she was new and under warranty so it goes to show it doesnt matter new or used they break. But the Warranty just expired on my model so I hope she doesnt break! I knew I should of bought the extended warranty for $39.99 when I had the chance. Got over 100K miles on her now and if I keep the oil changed and the chassis lubed I should get that much more out. Need to get the tires changed soon though if I can afford it. They are getting low and are sagging pretty good.

Aside of that no my wife doesnt care much because it saves us some money and I like a great deal and this tv was another one. The last two nights I been watching dvd's on it and they look amazing on here. I trully cannot wait to get the HD sat hooked up to see what this tv can really do.

You're a sick puppy funboy

Does anyone have this and time warner digital cable? I'm using it with time warner's hd receiver, but can't program the remote with the listed philips code, 068. Anyone have luck getting the remote to work with the tv?

Sorry, not sure. What do you think of the TV so far?

The tv has a few minor cosmetic scratches on the side, but other than that, it seems to be in perfect shape. I made sure that it looked ok when on before signing the release form. The quality for hd content is pretty amazing, but its my first hdtv so I don't have anything else to compare it to. But for $400, its a bargain as long as it doesn't break down in a few days.

Mine didn't come with a manual, anyone find one online?

I'm starting to consider buying one of these bad boys, though part of me still wants a 4:3 TV (I have my 24" Widescreen monitor).

Is it free shipping for all TVs unless noted?

Everything is shipped free at ElectronicsNation, not sure about the Philips site.

Everything there is shipped free but you have to pay tax. As for 4:3 it will do the progams in a 4:3 format with black or grey bars on the side so you are not stuck having the picture streched out. Comes in hand for me when I am watching reg sat program.
TV does 4;3, wide screen, and different zoom features that you can resize to your liking manualy.

I also got the $150 vcr/dvd burner and it is the shiznit! Saves me alot of time recording my sons cartoons on the computer, editing out the commercials, then reformating it to play on a dvd player. I just watch the shows with him and pause during commercials. After the disk is full hit the button to close out the disk and Im done. Very sweet and cant wait to do all of our vhs tapes to dvd.
