The last time a Phillips Wide Screen HDTV refurb was posted here, i jumped.. These TV's are plagued with serious geomertry issues and even advanced service menu tweaks are of no help.. Not to mention, 1 month after using the TV, my 480P input no longer works.. My advice, save your dough and spend it on a panasonic tau series.

Wow this really concerns me, since yours is the second post in this short thread regarding this problem. Oh wait ...both of them are from you. ;)

I called to make sure I got the right answer and anything they sell from the site that is a refurb has a 3 months parts and labor warranty on it.

Walmart has this 30pw8480 and the 30pw9110d side by side. Target has the 8480 also, and neither looks as good (not as sharp) as other CRT sets near it, so holding off on buying the refurb.

A question, the 9110d says it has digital and analog tuners, for $30 more, (retail prices), than the 8480, can the digital tuner in the 9110d pick up HD OTA with the proper antenna?

I purchased an extended 2 years for my Philips refurb for only around $50, too good a deal to pass on especially because they do service calls and come out to your house.

What other Tv's in the $400 range that are HD widescreen with HDMI connections looked as good as the one in question though?

I have the model prior to this one and love it. XBOX games in HD are great. I wish it had 720p, but I don't know of any CRTs that do. If this works as well as mine I'd get it. No problems at all, none. Can't wait to watch the NHL in HD. I watch the Sox (Boston, of course) in HD often and it's great, and Discovery HD can't be beaten. This TV does appear to have less connections than mine, mine has AV1-5 and CVI. I use HDMI (Cox Motorola DCT6412 HD DVR) and 2 sets of Y-Pb-Pr (the XBOX uses one (CVI) and my DVD player the other (AV5)).

Well people all I can saw is WOW! Hooked up a HD sat reciever to it and WOW WOW WOW.
WOW.
BTW I am using the DVI output with a DVI-HDMI adapter making use of the HDMI input.
I did try the componant input first though and it did pop up a box that said 1080I after I switched the sat reciever to that output.

 After a month I'm stilll wow'ing some of the HD content it displays too. Keep an eye out on the upper left corner though, these models (mine as well) when shipped to people are said too pick up on an internal speaker magnet and display a discoloration that can be seen on light colored backgrounds, if you get this try facing the TV north, it sounds ridiculous but try it.

Thanks for the heads up on that. As of now I dont have anything on the screen like that. And yeah this thing is sweet. I was going to get a cheap 32" regular tv for $300 but glad I spent the extra $100. Not regreting it one bit!
