Thanks guys! I'm moving in a couple of weeks and have been looking for a cheap bedroom TV. This'll be perfect (assuming it turns on) :)

Monoprice has a wide variety of cables and adapter for LOW prices. I bought an HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI adapter from them and the quality is very good and they both work flawlessly.

This isn't going to be delivered via UPS or FedEx. It's a big, heavy item. It will be delivered via freight. They will call first and schedule a time when they can make delivery after the item arrives at their local distribution hub. The 30" WS HD monitor (older model) I got last year from them was delivered via Eagle Global Logistics.

This is so true. You can't expect one person to deliver a 30 inch - 140lb TV. Even a 27 inch CRT can break your back. The Good Guys once delivered my 36 inch Wega with one person; that was a 200lbs+ TV. While it's true that they can use a dolly, you would still need to lift the unit up to a TV stand of sorts - so invite some friends or family to help.

idk, I've heard somewhere 90 days, but I sure as heck can't seem to find that anywhere. What I HAVE found is that Philips offers no warranty on Refurb items. This confuses me because I've read all those posts about Philips having the tv fixed at a local authorized repair center and idk how they would be doing that if there wasn't some warranty.

It's delivered by Eagle carriers and the guy who delivered mine last year was very helpful. Moved it right into my living room and helped me hoist it up onto the TV stand...also, i called ahead of time and arranged for the delivery within a 15 minute window, which was pretty nice. i'm happy with the TV. Only complaint is that the only way to get widescreen movies to fill the screen is with a stretch feature...it still has huge black bars in widescreen mode (i'm told that most WS TVs automatically display in 16:9 mode if the feature is 16:9, which is why i assume this is a flaw. i may be wrong, though).

oh, and the Philips Outlet also tends to have 30" LCD TVs for around $800 if that's your preference. I have no experience with those, though.

Widescreen TVs will still display bars depending on the ratio of the movie. 2:35:1 will have bars while 16:9 movies will not. There have been a lot of movies adopting the 2:35:1 ratio however, which is why so many movies still have the bars at the top and bottom.

just to confirm what Paul says about 2:35 still having bars (should at least). that is called "anamorphic widescreen" where as 16:9 is commonly just "widescreen". I have done alot of DVD decoding and many DVD's will actually have the 2:35 information but will auto zoom it to full screen on a 16:9 set. Bottom line is this though, you telling it to zoom (i assume you meen zoom and not stretch) a 2:35 is not going to loose any more signal than if it did it automatically.

Here is an example of an anamorphic movie (T2 judement day)

It's 90 days. I got my refurb fixed by the local repair place. For people who didn't know better they would be okay with the TV but I notice the flaws so I had it fixed. It still had other issues so I ended up giving it to my parents. They're okay with it since it's an improvement over their 30"+ bubble tube 4:3 SDTV.

I'm surprised more people haven't brought up the DVD home theater system for $52. Has anyone purchased it that can give us a review?

i read the reviews and they seemed to damn the dvd player as being very poor. Also they said that the reciever made the speakers hum when it was turned off. I would only consider it if it were NOT for my bedroom system as that hum wouldn't be good. And considering its low power, that leaves very few applications. BUT just the speakers alone (w/powered sub) is worth that to some

This may be a little off topic but I have found it hard to get a good answer when I've asked the question before. I am looking for a CRT HDTV like this one, about the same size (it can be smaller but not bigger) and with 720p. Anyone have any good recommendations that aren't too much more expensive then this TV? I like this one a lot, but would really like to have that 720p

Does this have vga/dvi jacks on that back.. does this support a 1080i jack (which ever jack that is)?

Any one maybe just snap a digital photo to show us.. what it looks like?
