He won't really be a Hall of Famer, but any true Philly fan will tell you he was the backbone and the true, all around best player on that run of special Phillies teams. Though his teammates Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins both won MVP's of the league, Chase was the best of them all. Offense, defense, base running, and all the little things . . . he was one of the most fundamentally sound players in the game, bar none.

Long past his peak, the Dodgers have kept him on their roster the last two years simply for his influence on their younger players, who respect and adore him. This was never more evident than during his press conference wherein he announced his retirement.

While usually only reporters sit in on the pressers, this one also included a bunch of Dodgers players who chose to cram into the room — that alone shows what kind of impact the vet had on the team.

Absolutely true.

Any time Philadelphia fans show respect and admiration for any visiting player it is special. Couldn't have happened more than a handful of times ever.
