Doesn't surprise me. When I started at IBM, they brought in one of the top 300 global execs to speak at orientation. Kind of a welcoming / motivational thing. I wasn't expecting anything phenominal but the VP was very well-spoken and he touched on a number of topics including his undergrad as a philosophy major. That point specifically stuck with me over the years because I remember finding it odd at the time, but it makes more and more sense the further along I go in my career.

I didn't major in philosophy but I did take a number of philosophy courses, all of which I greatly enjoyed.

I'd like to see the numbers on that, it's a very vague statement. Some philo majors make more, or many do, or most do? What kind of nurses? LPNs, RNs, BSNs? What dept nurses, med/surg, ICU, ED, etc.? I know nurses that are pulling down 70-80k with a 2 year degree, and some that are making damn near 100k with a 4 year degree and some time in. Of course, I also know some lower end nurses making 30-40k. I'm sure there are philo majors working minimum wage at Starbucks, but I'd imagine some go on to get grad degrees and make it into top professional spots.

Do they ONLY have that or just used that as a easy degree to get a High GPA and get into a MBA, legal, etc... Grad program?

Every single person I knew in college majoring in philosophy either went law school or dropped out before completing their degree.
