Philips Acoustic Edge - Popping/Hissing/Crackling problems

Hello - i've had this sound card for several months now and been very annoyed by the Hissing/Popping/Crackling happening in all parts of windows. Games, CD Audio, mp3's, doesn't matter. I've reinstalled windows (XP Pro) used the latest drivers, dloaded newest versions of Windows Media Player, WinAmp 2 (I dont like 3), ATI Multimedia Center (ATI Video card) and the same problem exists. I can't figure it out.

The only thing that I think MIGHT be it, is i'm using a very cheap set of speakers - like 30 dollar speakers.

Any ideas?

What are your system specs? Could be some driver issue, or the cheap speakers. I have used the Acoustic Edge for quite some time with WinXP Pro, and have no issues. (Klipsch ProMedia? 4.1)

Me too... running it on AMD, XP, and Klipsch PM 5.1s. 😀

Well my current system specs (kind of old now days)

1.2ghz Athlong (nonxp)
448mb RAM
60g IBM HD
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO
Philips Acoustic Edge 5.1
56k Creative Modemblaster
48x TDK VeloCD
40x Samsung CDRom
Internal 250 Zip

Never got a chance to buy my nice speakers - I got fired and haven't found a replacement job that would allow me to purchase such things 🙂
