Philips Accoustic Edge (PSC706) - help adjusting sound

Heya all,

My rig is listed below in my profile.

I recently dumped my old MX300 sound card for a Philips Accoustic Edge PSC 706 sound card.

I like the card and all, but when using headphones, the sound is way too muted.

I'm looking for some sort of equalizer to help boost the mid range and/or reduce the bass.

Any ideas? or suggestions?

Thanks!

First of all, how do you have your headphones set up??

In my experience, for best performance with headphones, swap your headphone cable with the speaker cable that is hooked to the green plug. Then in the psc706 control pannel, under the settings tab, switch your output mode to headphone.

Hope this helps some.

My headphones are plugged into the desktop control pod of the Logitech Z60's. Front and read sound go into the pod, then either to the headphones or to the subwoofer. At the subwoofer the sound is amplified and send to the speakers. But since the problem is headphones, that's not important.

I have tried plugging the headphones directly into the Philips card, no difference at all on sound. The "headphone" setting on the control pannel makes the sound worse...it chops off the mid and highs even more.

I found the best setting, but still very poor, to have it set to 2 speaker with the QSpander setting on(emulates 4 speakers from 2).....I also have bass MIN and treble MAX set.

What I'm really after is a software graphic equalizer with at least 8 bands to adjust the sound. I'd rather not go buy an external equalizer just for my headphones.

Also, for what it's worth, I've tried 3 pairs of headphones ranging from $15 to $125 (borrowed these from a friend).
