my gripe is with the fact that the junior member doesn't know the difference between "$24 shipped" and "$24 after MIRs"

can you please change the topic to reflect this?

<< I dont know if a SENIOR MEMBER has the right to make such comments. Its your choice to read whichever thread. No one forces to come here. >>

All members here know not to duplicate current postings. Junior members especially should learn the guidelines and adhere to them. Your "new" thread added nothing that the original thread didn't already have, but certainly didn't have as much content as the ORIGINAL THREAD POSTED HERE :Q
>>

Lose the ego trip, being a "SENIOR MEMBER" on a message forum aint exactly something to get all high and mighty over. And if it is.. well, enough said.

Why don't you learn how to read there ProUser. No where, absolutely no where, was any "ego trip" taken in my post. Go ahead, read the quote of mine that you copied above and tell me where you get an "ego trip". Plain and simple, it's providing some obviouslly needed guidance to the new member on the block. He clearly stated he just copied from a previouslly posted deal - isn't that frowned upon here?

You know I subscibed to this thread in hopes that I would get the information I need to save some money. I have found the last few posts to be not in the least bit helpful and way off topic. If you need to have this discussion why don't you take it somewhere else. I have the 10OFF40 coupon code but I can't get staples B&M to accept it, They want a postcard or an e-mail or something I am guessing. What do I need to do to get the $10 off? Thanks

Popup,

To get the $10, do a quick search for Staples B&M coupon. There is a thread dedicated to printable B&M coupons. That way you won't need a postcard or email from Staples.

Good luck!

The Staples here in WA had these on the shelf today for $69.99 w/ the $40 rebate. Use the $10 coupon, and you've got a $20 CD-RW (after rebate). Great deal, I just sent a friend over to get one!

I just ordered one of these and the Delta 50X CD drive which also has a rebate. Total price with tax after a $25 coupon was $92. Delivery is free. After the $40 and $20 rebate, final cost is $32 for both drives. I know that the Delta is kind of a dog, but it should work for someone like my parents who don't use the CD very often. This is almost too good to pass up. Are these CDRW drives that bad?

My 8x4x32 was bad. I tried two different OS's, and two different burning programs, two different IDE controllers (onboard, and promise), two different types of media (including philips), many different settings, and all I got was coasters. TOO bad Philips doesn't have a support number. I'm going to try to exchange or return it tomorrow.

I got in on this deal earlier in the week but I'm a little concerned about recieving the rebate. Did anyone notice there's no sign of the rebate on the Staples website unless you use an old link? Also, if you check rebateshq.com's site and do a search for the Philips rebate it comes back with a $30 rebate that expired on 6/30. In searching for the rebate at BB, there are 2 rebates listed. One for $30 that expires on 7/21, which is a BB rebate, and another for $40 that expired on 7/2 and is handled by rebateshq. Finally, I checked CC, their rebate is for $30 with expiration on 9/8, also handled by rebatehsq.

Maybe I'm just paranoid because I've been waiting 5 months for my PP cdr and 50x cdrom from those morons at rebatehq.

it's not a staples rebate, it's a mfg rebate. Follow the link above to the rebate on the Staples site. The rebate is good, I had a real form in hand a few weeks ago.

I guess you get what you pay for..since I had nowhere to put it, i replaced my ibm 32x cdrom drive and placed it alongside my iomega(plextor) 12x10x32x..I haven't even tried burning a cd yet, but I upgraded the firmware (coldbooted, etc), and popped in a cdr, and the drive had trouble reading it. Oddly, it decides to freeze up my computer when it has trouble reading a cd (and it won't even let me eject the cd, no matter what I try). DMA is enabled, and i'm running Win2k sp2...if this keeps up, I might be forced to pick up that Delta 12x dvdrom tomorrow (since i don't feel like putting that 32x ibm back in..).

This rebate is a Philips manufacturer's rebate and is valid through 9/8/2001. You can use the poor quality bmp rebate form on the Staples.com website or you can enter you information directly at the rebateshq.com website be clicking here. The advantage of the online entry is that you can print out your prefilled rebate form so you don't have to worry about data entry problems. In addition, you get a tracking number so you can check the status of your rebate online.

<< I don't know why this JUNIOR MEMBER thought he needed to start a new thread, but here's the link to that "well worn" thread he talks about. All the deal details you need plus options on how you may best work the deal for you can be found in the original thread. >>

Finally realized why Bob61 got so mad at this thread. He started the old one. Actually, at the time I made this post, he already announced the deal done (see his update #4). So I mentioned at the beginning that this is a renewal of the old (the old was already getting too long too). Of course everyone has the right to make comments. But it is not wise to highlight the difference between a sinior member and a junior one. As someone already pointed out, being a senior member only means you have a few more posts here. It doesnt necessarily make you anything better, whether intellectually or morally.

Remember that philips drive from staples? Well, if your local store still has them in stock, run down to your local Best Buy and have them pricematch it (they will call up to verify the price and that it's in stock). I printed out a webpage, as well as took my Staples B&M receipt as proof (drive was purchased two days ago), but they wouldn't take my word and made me wait for 20mins while they checked. Anyway, there's a Best Buy $30 rebate, and that $40 Philips rebate (and TWO exact UPC's on the box, if you ever noticed ).

My total came to about $74 (after tax) - $30 - $40 = $4. Beat that!

P.S. - I posted a new topic because I thought it deserved one (if I posted in the old thread not many people would have read it.). Also, I didn't see it posted elsewhere, so sorry if it's a repost (goddamn i hate these friggin disclaimers, but some of you just wanna bitch about something )
