If someone is looking in that price range the Panny 47WX53 for $1499 @ CC is a much better tv.

edit: CC also has $100 g/c and free delivery (usually $39 I believe) on the Panny.

Sears has same thing for 1400 ... Plus free delivery but it ends on the 17'th. I'd rather have the cash then a GiftCard.

I dunno how reliable these are 289 for a 3 year warranty. Who knows??? Is it worth it?

While that may be a good deal... I just don't trust dishing out 1K + to some company in the middle of .... Then have the thing dropped 5 million times before they get it out to you.... I know that most of the time 70-80% it will arive without damage. But, what about the other 20%? Or when they set it up the next day you try to turn it on and nothing happens. Sigh. I'd just perfer to get it local... Shipping these 200+ lbs boxes back and forth would most likely be expensive and very fun to do.

And local purchases are brought all the way to the room that you want the thing installed. You uncrate it, turn it on and THEN let delivery guys leave. If it don't turn on you tell them to bring the dang thing back!

I just bought a Toshiba 46" locally at BB B&M and paid a bit more for that one reason. New in town I have no one to help me drag it in from the curb.

If you don't mind that hassle Toshiba 51H83 51" HDTV-Ready Projection TV is only $1399 at amazon, $300 less than BB sale price a very well reviewed TV at a killer price! ;)

PS The Philips got a suck review in the current Home Theater magazine. I've got the rag at home if anyone wants details later tonight.

I bought a 43" one (not ws) last year year at my local Wally world closeout sale for $800+tax. Its not the best out there but for the price I paid it was worth it. Definitely the Panasonic or Sony or Mitsubishis are way better. My Philips is a HDTV ready (1080i/480i) and it's good fun playing Project Gotham 2 on it using the component outputs on the Xbox.
