here is info from philips web site

In order to ensure your immediate satisfaction with your purchase, Philips will accept the return of most items other than renewed products purchased from Philips if you do so within 30 days of receipt of your purchase from Philips. Renewed product cannot be returned for credit, however this policy does not reduce your rights under your Purchased Products Limited Warranty for repair or exchange

Basically, if it's functional you can't return it, but they will exchange it if it's defective.

http://www.outlet.philips.com/ Link for lazy, has promotion code also

I've been researching LCD tv's intensively for the past few weeks now. I am looking to get one in this room to watch widescreen dvd's. There's a newly released Soyo DYLT032A 32" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV for 949 after 100 mail in rebate at tiger direct. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...etails.asp?EdpNo=1446041&Sku=S450-8320
The spec's look good, good contrast ratio and 8ms response time, just no consumer reviews readily available.

Something more economical could be the ViewSonic NextVision 17.1" Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HD-Ready TV for 449 at amazon.com. There's also a 100 MIR. so that would make it 370 after shipping.

Does anyone know more about the Soyo company? Are their products manufactured here?

thanks

I never seen the Philips LCD at Costco. I did see the regular CRT Widescreen. Are you talking about that?

..was at costco today and didn't see it. But it comes and goes and may still be avail at costco.com I bought the Sceptre 30" panel from costco.com because it has similar spec's as the Philips but was less expensive. I've had the Sceptre 30" for nearly 6 months and really like it..rewatching all my dvd's...

has anyone here purchased one of these sets before? How was the condition? Is it worth the risk in buying a refurb because the prices are amazing

I was looking at that deal too and almost bought one earlier. I have been shopping for a 30-32" LCD and reading a lot of user reviews at avsforum.com and a lot of people there with the Philips say the image quality is grainy when compared to other similar priced TV's like the Sceptre 30" which newegg has for $879 now (but $100 shipping). I saw the philips tube 30" HDTV monitor at several local stores and was not impressed. I'm also a bit worried about the 90 day warranty on a refurb TV.

I've also looked at the Syntax Olevia 32" that buydig.com has for $1084 shipped as well as a few on tigerdirect. I'm leaning toward the Syntax Olevia 32" now since this will be my living room TV and eventually move into the bedroom in a few years.

Hmm... I'm debating between this and the Sceptre. They both have similar specs. Does anyone here have this Philips model?

I ended up going with a 32" Vizio 999.97 from Sam's due to their cheap extended warranty and VERY liberal return policy. This TV will be replaced at least once I'm sure from Sam's.

This is going to be a bedroom set hung on the wall, I am waiting for a bargain on the 37" Olevia for the living room to replace the 32" CRT Toshiba HDTV I have there now, it's a bloody beast!!!!

So far I am very impressed with the Vizio, just need to pick up some HDMI HD cables.

I have been looking at a 30"-32" LCD for my bedroom. The Olevia is what I have been looking at and read several good reviews on it. Is there anything with equal quality at a similar price?

Also is the 30" or 32" Olevia a better TV. Is the Super-IPS (Super-In-Plane-Switching) just marketing or does it do antyhing.

Oh and sorry for the thread jack.

Needed a replacement for my 27inch 3:2 TV.

Picked up the refurb 32inch flat 3:2 TV at the Philips store with no shipping.

Brand new appearance. Good picture (not great). But for $289 delivered to my door this was the best deal around.
