I wish I could afford that, but alas I'm a starving college student living at home....with no gambling problems nor debts so i guess it's alright=)

It looks like a scam. I would ship the parts only if:

- He will use Western Union and wire you the funds.
- Mail you a cashier's check from an International bank.
- Or he is willing to shell out 5 bucks and buy a money order from bidpay.com

DO NOT accept Paypal. It doesn't matter if you accept the money and transfer it to your bank. Paypal can screw you anyways if this is indeed a scam. Paypal can freeze your accound and go with collections agency to get the money back

just hope he's an american tourist in the Philippines that needs a computer... very odd because there were many stores in the malls (SM?) there that had computer hardware supplies... anyhow, what's his rating? How many negatives/positives, etc.? (Sorry if I skipped some details.)

off topic, but I find stupid people on ebay really annoying. Please who can't read. No credit cards through paypal accepted, etc. Those people annoy me! A small annoyance(my tolerance for people isn't very much) is when people bid 10.00 on a popular item that will most definitely sell for over 30 times that amount such as a new 17 inch lcd. I see people bidding and getting outbid by increments of $.50. from $10.50 to $11.00, from $11.00 to $12. In a typical auction like this the item can stay under $100 for more than 25+ bids. After that point, the bids finally start jumping to realistic amounts with increases numbering from $150 to $175 until the auction finally ends at around $330. My question is just....what's the point of out bidding someone at $10.00 with a MAX bid of $10.50 with more than 2 days when the item goes for well over $300. I've seen so many experienced ebayers do this...not just newbies. It's odd to me. Maybe if there was only a couple hrs left...or even a day left that they could slip such a bid by...but why bother??!

The "whiteness," or American-ness of the name is immaterial in my post. My point was that he is probably using a name that is not his, so of course the name on the Paypal will be the name he is using in his correspondence. I'm saying that he's going to try to make it look as legit as possible, and that means telling you he is the person that owns the Paypal account that he has fraudulent access to.

TELL EBAY!

Cause it's fun, you never know what will happen;)

Some people use it to keep track of the auction instead of using watch this item function.

I bid on stuff too....but it's impossible to win an auction like that with that amount of time left. It's just funny to watch an auction increase so slowly at the opening days only to watch it explde in the last minute. I've even gone cray in the minute myself and started bidding like crazy cuz I couldn't beat this other guys highest bid. Ended up spending 35$ more than what I had set as a max for myself and ended up getting something I didn't need on top of it for a $150 auction but I WON! But with 5 days left and to bid 50 cents over the last bid is insane. I wonder about those people...whether they actually intend to win.....but you do have a point about keeping track of auctions I guess.

You should see me when I get into a funk and decide to bid on stupid things:) And sometimes, a few days later I get an email telling me a won. lol, it's usually cheap (under $5) so it's not a big deal but I have ended up with things I have no use for, like a women's lacrosse stick, bunch of KVM cables (actually worth a bit if I ever get around to selling them) and other useless crap.

Once paid $0.25 + $2 shipping for a bag of happy meal toys too.

No, I don't keep any money in paypal and dont like to pay by paypal anymore either. They've gotten flaky since I used them for gambling.

I don't like to judge people, but 10K - 20K in a paypal account for gambling is sort of a problem.

Not really. It was capital to make more money during the bonus days at casinos (long since gone)

For the love of God, don't ship!

Make some calls. . . Have Paypal verify funds, or do something. By being proactive, you save Paypal, the guy whose account the scammer has, and yourself a lot of grief!!!

Please!!!

So anyway,

Mr. Monkeylove, Send him a quick apologetic E-mail, tell him you were out all day, and tell him you'll ship Tuesday.

But do not do it until Paypal says everything's cool. DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT!

You could lose all your stuff, and nobody wants to see that happen.

I definitely won't ship til I verify funds. What should I say in the e-mail? And what should I do with the money? Refund it now..or later? I'm gonna contact damon in a min for his advice as well. I haven't spoken to the culprit in over 24 hrs....lol, I'm afraid he;s thinking I'm scamming him. But I didn't know what to say to him after he sent me the money.

btw, the ship to address (unconfirmed) is to an address in my own state! I'm wondering whether he forgot to change the address?!! or something. I know it's extremely fishy and I find this all funny but the guy gave me enough to cover international shipping for 13 pounds...which is the total weight. It's odd how the ship to wouldn't be a confirmed one if this scammer forgot to change it. If this guy is legit(umm yeah right), I'd just bring him the stuff myself...(can't be more than a 2 hr drive in IL) and save the shipping myself=)

Just tell him the truth, that you are contacting paypal to verify the status of the account since paypal scams are a huge problem on ebay right now. Give him your phone number or ask for his and offer to call him. I would do everything possible to verify.

you should research on that address- find the phone number/people who live there- and give them a call asking if their credit card has been stolen or paypal account hacked or something. search it all up on the internet..
if you want, post the address here and i'm sure the intarweb 1337 will be eager to help you. ;)

LOL.....so after all the warnings you are still shipping it? You should have used bidpay...I guess you have to learn the hard way sometimes.
