I found myself watching the Masters twice this week... simply because it was in HDTV. :)
Saw Arnold finish the 18th on Friday, and then saw Phil win today on the 17th & 18th.
What's strange is I've never really paid much attention to golf... yet I know a lot of the names that were at the Masters. Hell, I might even have to take a lesson or two and learn how to play golf myself. ;)

Ditto. When I erupted in the commons everyone was asking "What's the big deal? Who cares?" as they went by. Was ready to punch them in the face.

No kiddin.

I tried learning in high school, and got really good with close pitching and putting but I really sucked with long range shots :(

I dont have any cash to spend on lessons so I guess I may just pack my clubs and start practicing.

I?ve watched the Masters for many years. That was one of the best Sundays I can remember!! 2 holes in one on the same hole. The Big Easy has 2 eagles, and Phil birdies 2 of the last three to win his first Major! Great stuff.

Now that Mike Weir, Jim Fuyrk, and Phil have won majors, the talent really drops off on the list. Maybe Colin Montgomerie?

even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut

That's a terrible, completely innacurate comparison. Phil didn't get lucky- he's been in contention many times before and he's one of the best golfers in the world.

thank you, i was going to respond to that blind squirrel comparison also.

phils is definitely not a blind squirrel, he has amazing skills and great talent. ask ANY PGA pro ANYWHERE and they will all attest to phils skill. he just has a tendency to take too many risks.

Yeah, he does. If you watch golf he constantly gets ripped on for that. Feherty even mentioned it today when he decided to pull up and hit a 3 wood off of the tee on 18 to take the left hand bunkers out of play.

yup.

he thinks he can make any shot, he's just not quite as good as he thinks he is, or mb i should say NO one is as good as he thinks he is. that's why almost no one else tries some of the shots he does.

but despite that limitation, he is definitely one of the best golfers on the tour. the fact that he was able to win the masters DESPITE that "handicap" really says a lot about he ability.

Oh Yeah! I've watched Lefty for years now, I have seen him pull off some of the MOST amazing shots in professional golf. Today was indeed a great day for Phil and golf.:D

Yeah, the bottom line is that he's just damn good. Have you ever seen him do "trick" flop shots? Craziness. He can consistantly hit a ball right over a person's head when they're standing less than 5 feet away. It's like he's hitting it straight up.

Yeah that discussion should pretty much die off for awhile. I don't think anyone is really expecting monty to win a major any time soon.

what is phil's last name?

michelson

You should both be given timeouts for not using google. It's Mickelson.
