PhII stock HSF - how do you like?

I hear it's quite good. Better than the intel stock HSF anyway.

I did hear of some people actually getting 4ghz+ on the stock cooler.

I saw this leaked over at another forum, and it's an excellent heatsink. If I was to get a Phenom II rig, I don't think I'll need an aftermarket HSF. All AMD processors might be shipping with these new heatsinks now, with the Phenom II coming with the new heatsinks for sure. It's supposed to be a 2 pipe design.

AMD stock heatsinks has always been very good for being "free", imo, it can keep up with an ACF7P...
completely different than the crappy intel cooler.
the mounting mechanism is better too!

i would def give it s shot at cooling before buying another one.. they're easy to take off

is it the same heatpipe one that athlon 6000+ or phenom 9700 and up came with its a very good heatsink (i bought one for $3 from ewiz when they had some sort of sale).

its got tons of fins, and 4 heatpipes and is quiet. much better than anything intel gives out (except maybe the qx9770 heatsink which is decent)

I'm currently using the stock heat sink but my temps are high. At first I might have put a little too much Arctic Silver 5 so I took off the heat sink, cleaned both surfaces, and used the "grain of rice" method with AC5. Right now I'm running my PHII at 3.6ghz 1.52v. Idle temps are ~41c and load temps are 70c. I'm thinking to get a TRUE120.

I guess for a mild overclock or just at stock settings the stock heat sink is very good.

70c load temps? Way too high for any long term use, especially for a 125w rated CPU.

Try lowering voltage (to like 1.4V) while raising other voltages to keep it stable if necessary. 1.5V should be enough for close to 4ghz.

Definitely too high at 70c. I wouldn't be comfortable unless it was in the 50's. Anything in the 60's IMO is a no no for 24/7 use.

Mine keeps it very cool! About 45C idle and about 55-60 load but my Phenom II is better than most

The AMD heatsink that uses 4 heatpipes is really pretty decent from my experieces. Just keep your expectations realistic for a stocker heatsink.

well, mine idled at 35c. So I went to my TRUE and it idles at 23... I didn;t even try load on it.

I have an e4300 @3.15 and Q9550 @4.25 both load ~ 70c on small fft's, been using both 24/7, one for 1.5 years, other for 2-3 months, no problems. I really don't believe 60's for 24/7 is a problem, and until I see for myself evidence otherwise I'm gonna keep it that way.

And ya, the intel stock heatsinks are bottom of the barrel, might as well just include a $10 voucher instead for a TRUE 120.
