Phenom vs x2 Athlon

I currently have an x2 5000+ black edition at 3.2GHz. I am wondering at what point am i going to see similar performance between what I have now and phenom in say like team fortress 2, world in conflict, and call of duty 4.

I'm hoping to hold out for the phenom 45nm's in a couple months, but at what speed will i need to look at to have at least the same performance before overclocking or what not?

Thanks!

A 45nm Deneb looks like it'll beat a 3.2ghz X2 BE comfortably. Most notably as with any Quadcore you would see gains in multithreaded applications.

Definitely hold off until the 45nm Phenoms. No reason to upgrade from a 3.2GHz X2 right now. A 45nm Phenom paired with a new AMD 790FX chipset should be very nice.

Well would like the 9950 now be about the same speed or faster on average? With the 45nm deneb are we looking at like 2.8 or 3.0GHz probably?

Not only will the Deneb Phenoms clock higher, run at half the wattage, but they'll also have 6MB of L3 cache as opposed to the 2MB they currently have.

Like i said.....i'd wait it out 🙂

Yup, i got a 790fx too because my 570sli northbridge started flaking out from the heat of the last 2 years.

So yeah a 45nm phenom sounds perfect, thanks!
