Try changing processor voltage back to Auto.

2) 965 BE doesn't like high temps, you want to keep it under 55C, ideally.

it's a BEC3, but it stays under 51C _at max_. I'm going to get a 212 or a sunbeam 120mm core contact (easier to put on the motherboard since it has the AMD socket 'clamp' already, same if not better performance than the 212) and put a good 120mm fan on it. Should lower the temps a bit from the hyper tx3.
 
Get HWMonitor to monitor your temps, leave it running along with BOINC for a night. Still 51c?

It's either the temp or not enough volts. But get it to Auto as I had already suggested and do another run.

It's been running fine. I changed some stuff and for 2 days running boinc overnight it hasn't shut down and gets through 12 hours of Prime 95. HWMonitor doesn't work for me, Speedfan does though 🙂
 
Well, Einstein@Home pushed it up to 54C, so looks like I'll be getting a new heatsink/fan which will hopefully lower my temps a bit from the TX3.
 
Always had my best OC's using the FSB. I am using a retro setup but can run the 4200+ at 3.1Ghz for an additional 800🙂
 
I have a 955 and can tell you that getting to 4ghz wasn't easy. It took 1.47v and a mix of multiplier/FSB bumps. I also had to up the NB voltage slightly as well, loosen the timings and add another fan to my Xigmatek Gaia. Your thermal ceiling is 62C, so keep it in the mid 50s.

The Phenom IIs OC well, but mine hit a wall at ~3.8ghz and it takes an alarming amount of voltage to get to the 4ghz mark unless you're willing to mix it up with some FSB tweaking to get the most out of it you can. Although I reached 4ghz, 4.1ghz actually, it just wasn't stable.

I've been able to get it to 3.7ghz on an undervolt of 1.30v and a mix of FSB+multiplier/ram/NB fiddling. For everyday usage I've found that it's been perfect.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, but running a 212+. I can hit 3.7 below stock volts but need heaps of juice to go past 3.8 on my C2 955BE. That said, a Phenom II at these kind of clocks is a killer base for everyday use considering the price (and the age, my setup is almost 2 years old).
 
Same as the two posters above me - hit a wall at 3.7 with my 965 BE C3 and a 212+. Temps were fine and I did not touch voltage - its all at stock. I just don't see a point going for 4ghz if it takes huge amounts of voltage to get there.
 
Yeah mine isn't stable at 3.8Ghz. I'm going to do 3.7 and see how that works. Boinc crashes it after a few hours.

Edit: Stable running 3.7Ghz on stock voltage, but STILL hitting 51C from 1.475V to 1.4V.

Can't recall if I bumped the voltage on it or not. I think I set it up one tick. Also, it was not stable past 3.7 without changing the CPU-NB.

But its been running solid for 6 months like this.

But 1.475 seems way high to me for that speed. Thats going to make your temps quite a bit higher.

I can't get mine stable on 3.8Ghz. Shuts down after a few hours of Boinc.
 
You may want to try bumping your CPU-NB voltage up a notch. If you are at stock, its possible thats is what is causing the crashing.
 
I can hit 4.0Ghz and it is rock stable with 1.45V on an X4 955. My motherboard has the nice 8 pin cpu power connection and gives me some nice stable power.
