The sticky on this topic is pretty good.
Thanks, I'll start messing around. I looked for a sticky related to PhII overclocking, but haven't seen anything. I searched for Phenom II 805, 810, and so on, but the 800 series is sort of rare I guess. Most people seem to go for the 700 triple-cores, or the full-fledged 900 series. I got this combo at Fry's for ~$250, just hoping that it will turn out decent. So far, it seems a lot more sluggish than my old E5200 in Windows use, but then again I was running about 3.6Ghz on the 5200, and I'm still stock 2.5Ghz on the PHII for now.
I was really hoping someone had some direct experience with a 800 series overclock on the 790X chipset, and better yet, someone with this UD4P mobo. The BE PhII's have unlocked multis, so overclock on those is a lot easier. I haven't overclocked an AMD for a while

I was one of the unlucky few who got a bum Octy 165 that wouldn't do more than 2.1Ghz or so, and that was on an DFI Lanparty NF4-SLI mobo that was supposed to be awesome. Same exact build that a friend did and hit 2.8Ghz. I guess the YMMV thing is always true
