My 560 in my htpc/2nd gamer cannot boot at any voltage into windows. (edit: as a quad)

However it will work well as a triple core @ 3.5 ghz

I can also get 4.0 ghz when running as a dual core stable.

This PC is mostly used for video watching, encoding video and some gaming on the big screen.

Would you run it as a dual or a triple if it was you?

Also anyone ever have any luck unlocking to a quad with these chips or
X2 555's?

I cannot get windows to load even at 1.55v with the 3rd core
Enabled.

The fourth core seems stable up to 3.5ghz

Check Sig 🙂

But lately it has become much more difficult to unlock these chips , I bought my cpu 2 months after X2 550 came out. 🙂

The X2 550 I'm using unlocks to a quad. However, though Windows and most software work stable, a few don't and I'm writing the 4th core off as 'slightly' faulty. Currently running it as a tri-core and overclocked to 3.6GHz (could probably run it higher but I have not tried).

To answer OP's question, I'd personally run yours as a tri-core. The extra physical core will make a bigger difference than the extra MHz.

Regards.

i have a x2 555 unlocked to 4 cores and running at 3.6 ghz. I got it at 3.8 ghz with just 1.35 V core but it wasn't totally stable. 4.0ghz couldn't boot windows.

I could probably easily get 4.0ghz or higher on 4 cores with some more vcore but i dont want to get too greedy you know? will def. overclock more once my PC gets long in the tooth

Its a new chip. I had a x6 1075t in it before but needed to use it elsewhere.

I picked the 560 up cheap hoping to get a
Quad.

I'm testing at 3.6 right now as a triple and so far so good.

3.7 causes problems even at high juice.

Looks like I've got 2 great cores, 1 good core and 1
Dud.

Core #3 enabled, i can't get windows to boot at all even at
Too high of vcore. Core #4 unlocks stable at least!
