I saw that but just wanted to show how ridiculous his reasoning is that a Q6600 is faster than a PhII 920.

So are you saying he was wrong?

An i7 is much faster than a Q6600...just because there are things even faster yet at doing what he wants done does not invalidate (nor make ridiculous) his assertion that the PhII 920 is slower than a Q6600 for his application of interest.

Ridiculous ? Its slower thats a fact. Why is that ridiculous ?

facts are facts.....

You can't tell exactly, since each type work unit has different PPD, but the 940 units loose to everything in the house except a 2.8 ghz Q8200.

Look here.

In this the 940 is @ 3728 mhz and gets beat using the same Wu as all my Q6600's, but they are all running @ 3.3 average, and a Q6600 is only $45 less today.

So again, what is ridiculous in my comparisons ???

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous... what is important to him the PhII doesn't excel at, so for him it's slower, which would be ok if the price was right, but in this case it provides worse bang for the buck as he can buy faster processors for less money for what he wants it for. That doesn't mean it's a blanket statement that PhII is a worse buy for everyone or slower for everyone at every thing, or even provides bad bang for the buck to everyone. Just what he considers important it just doesn't compete with Intel's offerings.

What I'm getting at is that he should just send me his PhII since it's not very useful for him. ;)

Or he could get a monster power supply and drop in four 9800GTX's and have a monster folding box. But I think sending to me would be best in this case. :p

Yeah there is zero mystery as to why Intel created the Q6600 and has kept it available at the price-points they've offered it at for so long. Someone(s) in Intel got major bonuses for executing this remarkebly successful strategy.
