Phenom 9850BE + 4850 w/ Antec TrioPower 430w

I just ordered a 9850BE to upgrade my current system and was wondering if my current PSU is good enough or if I need to be buying a new PSU.

Another thing is that my mobo has a 8pin CPU power connector and I've been using a 4pin since my old CPU only drew 45w... is it ok to keep using the 4pin? The manual states that a 4pin can be used but the manual is outdated, full of typos, and less than confidence inspiring. I've heard horror stories of people melting their 4pin connector when their system draws too much power and overheats the connector.

The system will be as follows:

AMD 9850BE X4 2.5ghz
ASRock 780GXE Mobo
1 HDD (1.5TB Seagate)
Sapphire 4850 512MB Video
1 Burner
4x2gb DDR800
AntecTrio 430w PSU

I know I should probably be looking to replace the PSU eventually... but will this current power supply work/not damage anything if I don't plan on OC'ing? Rumors of lay offs started yesterday and I am weary of spending anything I don't need to. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Should work fine. If you suddenly have the need to stick in 6 HDDs and overclock the cpu and gpu in that system (or crossfire), only then you would need a new psu 😛

That's what I was hoping! Thanks guys for your help!!

Does anyone know why the individual components recommended so much higher; the video card itself recommended 450w (I know it doesn't use more than 75w) and the CPU is a power hog at 125w.

The recommendations are exaggerated to account for poor quality PSUs which are incapable of delivering their rated power.

The HD4850 uses more than 100W. The 125W rating on the CPU is TDP not power consumption.
