that board and a 1055T, $265. stock on the board is probably going to run out pretty fast, most of the stores in our area had 10 or less, and we started with 20-30 CPUs on tuesday. normal price is $140 for the board and $199 for the CPU. the PLU (frys product number) is 6232540. this deal wont be posted in any local papers where i am for at least another 6-7 hours, and you wont be able to find it online till around then either. figured i would give you guys an early heads up since it's a really awesome deal :awe:

Nice deal. I may get up early and go get one. I dont need one but what the hell...Now to use the 790FX board in sig or this...

Also $15 MIR B&M.

as i said, quite nice. i expect overclock results by this time tomorrow! my weeks pay says someone's getting up at 7am now LOL

Sexy, but I like my Core i7 920 better.

except a core i7 920 alone probably costs as much as the entire deal unless you live near a microcenter.

seems like this is already out of stock at every bay area location from people reserving it with the online store pickup link.

I got mine at Microcenter.

If you're buying new, I'd go with this deal over an i7 920. That said, I have an i7 920 and this is not worth the cost to upgrade from a 4 core HT machine with tri-channel memory (so I can put 12 gb in cheaper) to a 6 core non-HT dual-channel memory machine.

Why not? For a gaming machine, most of the processing is done by your GPU so the difference won't be as much.

yeah, but you might as well get cheaper Ph II quads combos regularly available under $200. The point is price delta here is quite significant. At this price one would be better off grabbing a i5 750 methinks.

Not saying that this machine would suck for gaming by any stretch of imagination, just that there are probably better valued or better performing platforms out there if gaming is your only concern.

It's a decent deal, just be aware of the limitations of that particular chipset. It has 22 PCI-Express lanes, which in a SLI/Crossfire situation probably means an 8x/8x restriction.

The 890FX comes with 42 lanes, giving better bandwidth in some situations.

No crap thread, it's a good deal, just be sure to make an informed decision.
